I have this trike that came with two batteries 48v. It also has a dual battery balancer. Is that balancer for charging or discharge or both. Thanks Jack20250116_121419.jpg20250116_121432.jpg

You can charge the batteries normally/independently and the device will decide which battery provides the power to the controller (the one with more charge). If you’re experienced, then you can skip the device and get the full benefits of paralleling (more range plus higher performance). The device mainly improves safety when initially connecting two batteries (but not actually parallel).

I plan to charge independently and remove from the bike. Like I do with my other trike.
The module is probably ideal for how you'll be charging your batteries and using it. It only functions during discharging, but can be kept in place during charging, since it prevents current from flowing from one battery into the other.

It should be mentioned the BMSs need to be two-wire to work correctly in parallel.

That's above my head.
Which is why @E-HP mentioned "experience" in the above post.

Just an FYI - BMSs are generally 2-wire or 3-wire. 3-wire BMSs use the third wire for charging whereas 2-wire BMSs charge and discharge through just the two main wires.

I thought that might be it thank you for the explanation.
