E-bike motor goes backwards.

I have a working e-bike and wanted to change the controller to limit speed so I bought display/controller kit from AliExpress. The display is kt lcd3 and controller is kt.
The problem I'm facing is that the motor is spinning in reverse. I bought an e-bike controller tester to check all 36 combination of Yellow Green Blue for both hall sensor and phase wires and discovered that 18 of them make the motor go backwards and 18 of them make the motor shake. Is there perhaps a hidden function to invert the direction of the motor?
Any help is appreciated.

Many controllers have a self-learn function, a wire pair you connect momentarily to cause it to spin the wheel and learn the correct pattern of signals to send / receive. Usually if you connect it once it spins one direction, then the next time it spins the other.

The wire pair is usually one that has matching conectors on each wire, both the same color wire, and not used for any other function, and not normally connected (only connected to learn).

Most Odd, did you double check all 18x shaking combos?? Im sure you were meticulous but overlooking a combo is the simple stoopid solution that needs a double check ;)

Any indication on the hub of the expected direction of rotation, and is it installed the correct way around? - pulling a guess from thin air - if installed back to front (left to right) and employing a self learning type control system to start with????
( would need to be a front rim braked hub drive for this to even be a possibility tho)

What make/model of bike or kit is it your dealing with?

Unfortunately no such thing is present with this controller

I triple checked every combination. 18 have the same reverse pattern and 18 have the same wrong pattern.
Shouldn't there be more than 2 patterns for the 36 total combinations?

My e-bike is the engwe t14. The original controller works well. It even worked with another controller that has self learning wire.

If you have a smooth running combination spinning backwards, then swapping two phase conductors and two hall conductors should revers the direction.
Oddly, the motor appears to be geared, so the wheel itself shouldn’t spin backwards, just the motor inside. Is that what’s happening?

Some motors can't be reversed with some controllers. I tried an Ezee motor with a KT. Like yours, it ran perfectly backwards, but not at all forward.
