The largest spokes that will "fit" are the ones that are installed from the factory. The spokes in my 5403 are 9 gauge, 3.57mm in diameter. IMHO, these are way too stout for the Bomber. The spokes do not have any appreciable "spring" in them when tensioned. However, without washers on the spoke heads, or re-drilling the holes, you are somewhat limited to what you can use. I highly recommend consulting with Holmes Hobbies further for your application.
Personally, I'm going to fit my rebuilt wheel with Holmes Moped spokes, and re-drill the flanges.

I've owned a lot of bikes. I've learned that there's bikes, and there's great bikes, and then there's also another class of bikes above all the rest that are so great they become mythical and almost impossible to find. In your whole life you're lucky if you ever find one. It's hard to know by looking how good a bike will end up being. Before buying my Bomber I'm lucky enough to say I owned 2 bikes that reached the mythic level. They were separated by 14 years. During those 14 years I rode a bunch of bikes that some were ok, some were crappy, but none were close to the class I'm talking. Then another 29 years went by, and a bunch more bikes. In that time only one bike came close to mythic, but it was just a near miss really, because no matter how great I thought my Road King was, and no matter how much I customized it, I just never really loved it. I respected it. I thought it was really well built. Every time I rode it down the street I couldn't help thinking what a good bike it was, but I never really loved it. If I was 800 miles from nowhere, I wouldn't want to be on anything else, but still, I never loved it. That's had hard it is to find what I'm talking about.
And then I bought a Stealth. It's the first electric bike I've ever owned. I only ever rode an electric bike once, on a brief chance encounter for about 5 minutes, when some guy I didn't know traded rides with my China Girl for a few blocks. I wasn't impressed with his home built kit bike at all. It barely would do 18 mph. But even so there was something about that short ride that caught my attention, I just couldn't tell at the time what it was. Now I know, there's something magic about riding electric. Even that crappy bike had a tiny spark of it. I think it was that little spark that got me to eventually buy my Bomber.
But I didn't really know what to expect. All I really knew about a Bomber was it was the most radical eBike I'd ever heard of, but that's really no guarantee that would be great, or even a good bike. I could even have ended up hating it for all I knew. I just had the itch for electric, and this was the bike that caught my fancy, so I decided to give it a try.
All I can say now is this bike is far beyond my expectations. It's beyond great. It's in the rarefied air that very few bikes ever achieve. As far as eBikes go it's so far above everything else that this is really the only place I can even speak the truth about it, except for our factory forum. When I ride with my eBike friends I don't even feel comfortable talking about it, because of how it makes them feel about their own bikes. If a non rider asks about, it's hard not to start sounding like a lunatic raving about how great it is, but mostly I don't want to reveal much about it to anyone, because I don't want it's capability's to become known to the wrong person.
I could go on and on about it, but let me just end by saying this bike is in many ways like the other fabulous bikes I've been lucky enough to own. It's so great it doesn't have to brag. It's superiority can't be hidden even if you try. It diminishes other bikes parked near it. All real bikers are attracted to it. And if you treat it right, it will reward you by keeping you alive.

With you on this TV, I sold my KTMS to finance the Bomber, never regretted that. Then I got the Fighter, and like it just a hair more than the Bomber even though its a tiny bit slower in stock trim. I down play the hell out of my bikes. People just don't understand when they find out what the cost is. But if I compare how much I rode my Bomber and ride my Fighter vs Dirt Bikes for the money, its way more saddle time for about the same price.

x2 on that Rix! When people see my bike they are super impressed.. Until I tell them the price.. The first word's that come out of their mouth everytime is "why didn't you just buy a motorbike?" Everytime!!
And no matter what I say they can't get over the fact that a "push bike" is worth $10k+..
And TV, The other day I was thinking about different alternative's for kickstand's and one of my thought's was to drill directly into the arm..
Then the thought I usually have immediately popped into my head.. "I can't do that, It will hurt resale value!"..
I thought about it for a while.. And the thing is.. I don't think I will ever sell this? I will upgrade it and sell off the replacement piece's but it is seriously perfect!
And no matter what I say they can't get over the fact that a "push bike" is worth $10k+..

And I don't need insurance, or registration, or inspection, or any kind of permission. And it only costs .25 cents to fill it's tank. This is freedom.
I just want too be free, free to ride my bike, and not be hassled my the man, and to party LOL.
And you got to admit, being able to escape from an occasional zombie comes in pretty handy too.

So.. I bought some Magura MT7 brakes today (should be here tomorrow) and I was wondering if anyone has used them on a bomber yet? Or at all for that matter? I know the Stealth line now come with MT5's as standard and MT7's as an upgrade so maybe a few of the newer owner's can tell me how they go?
I haven't been super impressed with the MT2's, and all the MTB rider's I speak to that have tried all the best of the best say the MT7's are pretty much the best available right now?
One guy said they were better than Hope V4's, Saint's, XTR's etc.. So let's hope so!
Also, I have gone through this thread again looking for the "how to waterproof" post's with the part's that need to be replaced. I seem to remember the main connector going to the hub? But what do I replace it with? And what else should I replace as I am expecting some rain in my area next week?

I get a kick out of reading other forums where some guy starts dissing some brand of eBike, and compares it to his bike, and I'm thinking, they both sound like crap to me :lol: .

TV, thanx, that's just another hub motor, I would like to try out a mid drive.

I'm really lovin on these Hook Worm's. I went for a 20 mile ride last night, and getting used to them. They steer quicker than the Thick Bricks. They don't wash out in turns. They feel smooth rolling for some reason, and because of the lower gearing they wheelie a lot easier. Top speed isn't much different though, I've seen 52 mph so far.
It seems like Bombers don't care much about gearing as far as top speed goes. With lower gearing it just revs higher. With the Thick Bricks, top speed is about 2 or 3 mph more, but it costs a lot in acceleration. All in all I like the lower gearing better, and don't miss the extra mph, because it still runs over 50 and gets there faster.

I don't get the point of mid drive Allex. It's so last century. For a motorcycle I can understand if you're going to have 50 hp, but for a bicycle fuhgetaboudit. Why go from no maintenance, to high maintenance, and noisy? And shifting gears? What a waste of time, unless you're climbing Pikes Peak everyday.
But if you must, I recommend you get belt drive. At least that'll make it a little quieter, and cut down on the maintenance.

Hello everyone I have been reading this huge thread for some time and I am the proud new owner of the Bomber of Allex
I am a motorcyclist holding a Honda VTR 1000F and in the past I have owned a Suzuki DR350 with whom I practiced enduro.
I'm also a RC addicted holding internal combustion and electric cars, I have a brushless offshore 29" long which has a top speed of 55mph on flat water and then I have a drone like the Dji Phantom and a little brushless collective pitch Heli with the rotor of 244mm.
Then I am a mechanical engineer and I am working in an industry that produces electro injectors for gasoline engines, and like build my own stuff. Then I love to build staff made of carbon fiber and I'm in contact with the owner of a local company that makes pre-preg carbon fiber stuff polymerized in the autoclave.

Benvenuto ragazzo Italiano. One hell of a back ground you have. I love Italia, and lived in Sardegna for 6 years, would have really liked a DR350 for that Island. With your background no doubt you will enjoy the Bomber. Do us a favor and make some vids riding around Italia when you get a chance and post them. Also, when you get a couple of rides under your belt, dici come ti trovi la Bomber perfavore.

What wonderful memories of the past you're making me come to mind! About 20 years ago I was on holiday in Sardinia with the DR350 and one of my first girlfriends !!!
I was born in 1973 and I live in Tuscany west coast, around the house I have a fairly large natural park where only bicycles are allowed and when I had the DR350 I went illegal through the trails sometimes.
Then about ten years ago I stopped practicing off road and got street motorbikes but in the last years the discovery of e-mountain bikes got me back the desire of the off-road but this time in stealth mode.
I will video recording for sure my Bomber trips, close to home I have plain trails in the woods and the sand on the beach side about 6km long, but if I move 20Km inward I have access to several mountain trails.
