E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

Thanks for shedding a little light on the subject Rix.

I would love to hear more about John Karambalis, and Stealth's story. How, and why was he able to make a bike that is so thoroughly good? It can't just be by accident. Was it just him putting pencil to paper, or did he have help. Where did the original idea for the design come from? What was he making before Stealth's? Is he a bike lover, or more of a techno nerd? Is it true that he's the guy in the zombie movie trying to sell gasoline?

I'm sure that right before the first combustion engine was invented no one thought horses would become obsolete. I never foresaw a day that I would park my gas bikes for good, but for the kind of riding I do in the city, my Bomber is just better. It allows me to ride places, and do things that my Sportster can never do.

Yup thats is him alright, the gasoline guy!
At 90sec he is testing a russian prototype motor - induction hubmotor. Rumor is that they will test this on their bikes.

I can give you guys little bit of background info. Firstly I believe he is Aircraft Engineer and worked for many years for a very talented Australian design engineer named Ian Drysdale before starting his own business building custom ebikes and then of course the Stealth product.

Visit this site http://www.drysdale-v8.com.au/ to get a bit of an idea of the scope of projects he has been involved with over the years. Although the Drysdale 1000cc V8 looks a little dated now, it was way ahead of its time and sounded like an F1 at full noise on the track. Keep in mind these bikes were built completely from the ground up including the entire engine.

JK was heavily involved with prototyping all sorts of motorbike and aircraft engines which would then typically head off to China for mass production. The Drysdale prototyping facility is now integrated within the Stealth factory making it an even more interesting place to visit.

Thanks for the background info Kepler.
Now I just wonder when Stealth's going to be coming out with the 2WD setup. :)

Here's the video of a ride myself, Lash, 9lives and his son did on the weekend.
I was riding my Fighter, Lash and 9lives were both on Flux Alpha's and 9lives son was on his Phasor.

Still uploading now, but should be done in an hour.

I have to say, after having a brief ride on Lash's Flux Alpha I do miss the raw power that kind of setup can offer. I'm looking forward to running 18S LiPo on my Fighter once again, and seeing what power I can squeeze out of my Mini-E at that voltage. I'm already pulling over 100A peak, but 52V Lifep04 with 600+ cycles doesn't really like it and sags over 12V on WOT.

Cheers

I think the BMS burned. Because they have wrapped it in isolating material. No clue how to write "isolating material"..

It was a BMS/Balance wire fire, not LiPo.

I bought some thumb screws for my side panel after this so I can quickly get in there if I ever need to.

Cheers

Thum screws are a good idea. But I don´t want anyone else then me to be able to open the covers...

I do find the hinged door on my little Storm to be pretty handy.

Sweet memories of Vancouver…. Love that place. Fing great riding.. Mountain bike (north shore), e bike (all over the place and burnaby) and dirtbike (near whistler)all were fantastic. Really tight gnarly rutty stuff. Smaller lighter bike the better. I went on a ride w some fellas..one guy on a ktm 450 a couple of modded kawasaki mlx 250s and a few of us on rentals… ttr 250s and 125s.. I looked at the bikes and the guy I was renting one from and said… really dude a TTR?? he insisted and damn was he correct.. Light low and nimble 1-2 gears all day long crazy tight rock rutted single track..The TTR's smoked the bigger bikes.. Those bikes rock of that only wish they had a bit more travel. some of the logs were too tall for the ground clearance. amazing riding… gotta get back there.

@1Abv, alot of guys don't really know how the TTR and CRF230L can be serious tight woods weapons coming from bikes with 30 year old technology, not mention the fun factor.

@Atheneco, always good to see you chime in from time to time with your light Aqua colored Bomber. Nice indeed.

Thanks :) i think that the bike is a lot faster at summertime due to extreme high temperatures here, yesterday it got up to 38c (100f). I m the only cyclist on the road.. A little problem is that motor gets too hot much faster too.

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a little help. I accidentally dropped my Bomber tonight (#445) which snapped the handlebars, damaged the throttle assembly, and bent the right crank arm.

Does anyone know the part numbers for these components so that I can order replacements? I don't mind using slightly different parts if necessary but prefer to keep everything as similar as possible to the factory setup. Thanks in advance!

Bars: Any bars that are correct diameter at clamp area will work. Your local bike shop can hook you up if unsure. I would not leave the key if you leave the bike for service though.

Throttle: you can get this from stealth. They ship Dhl from aus. Be careful there are similar crystalyte throttle that are wired different and I nuked a controller using wrong throttle. ::: I suspect:::: Or I just had a bad throttle?

You can remove the crank and bend it back. I took the risk on a trail and just pulled in out so I could ride home. But safer to do this off of trams.

Go... There are some experts here who know these bikes through and through

Thanks for the advice. I wound up ordering everything from Stealth since I had to get the throttle from them anyway.

I had initially tried to e-mail Joe Fischer for support but he is no longer with the company. Here are the support details that I received from their sales manager (Theresa Mischkulnig):

If you need to order parts, email: sales@stealthelectricbikes.com
If you need technical assistance, email: tech@stealthelectricbikes.com

FYI Stealth is not accepting credit card payments from the US but were willing to to take PayPal in this case since it was a "low value transaction."

Where at in the US are you? Got the stock carbon bars from my Bomber #143 with a bolt on aluminum cross bar I will sell you. PM if interested.

I think I don't ever want carbon fiber handle bars now. And after seeing that, you can forget a carbon fiber frame too. I never had much trust in carbon fiber for anything except non load bearing parts, and now I have less.

Just for a little fun I posted the following stuff in this thread
