Hi, I have been reading this site a lot lately and just finished the video for my first e-bike. I think this is a unique build method, and so far it has worked well. I made some wood panels to place on both sides of the bike frame so that it is wide enough to fit the batteries inside. The final results look clean and respectable. I think this method gives results that look as good as welding a frame but with tools anyone can use. All the seams are sealed with silicone and it is water tight. I hope I don’t have to open it to repair anything for a few years. Anyways let me know what you think and thanks for all the e-bike ideas.

Here are some stills for the bandwidth deprived.

PS, I'll update this thread as soon as the bike breaks so that we'll know how long this build method last.
1/30/15 - 203 miles so far no problems (besides flat tires)

Could you post a few still images as pictures uploaded into the post itself?

I (and probably some others) don't have the bandwidth to view videos very often (I can't access it at all right now), so still images help a lot for things like that. :)

Freakin' sweet man! On top of all the work you did to put your bike together, to set up scenes, video, and editing really adds to the to-do list. I really dig your build and use of wood - do you happen to weigh your components pre-install? I'm wondering how much weight was added to your bike. Set up a thread for it if you haven't already :)

Thanks for putting in the extra work and sharing with us.

Thanks,
Ill add some stills when i make a thread for the bike. Where should the thread go, e-bike technical? The parts added about 25 pounds. The wood didn't weigh much at all after i was done, it started big but was about an inch thick after shaping. The total bike weighs 49 pounds when I was done. Some of the screws that hold the plastic to the wood also hold the wood to the bike frame. When I had to take the plastic off temporarily to adjust something the silicone held to wood to the frame fine.

You've already got this one, with people following it. Why not use it? ;)

Ya - good start to a thread, but the title is a bit misleading.
I usually just scan the active posts and this wasn't about what I thought (spreading the dropouts with a 2x4)... :D

Go to your original post, press EDIT, then rename the title - existing posts will be unchanged, but the forum index and new posts will have the new name.
Maybe: "Custom Triangle Battery Box" or similar...
