hi this is my sons bmx that i am putting a 80-100 180kv rc motor onto. the battery is 18650 out of old laptop packs but will be upgrading later but for now will be ok for testing.
i have started to 3d print the side panels for the battery box. i found some old foam board to use aswell.
still have to work out how to mount the motor and other bits, but i am waiting on a few spockets i have ordered to come.

i 3d printed some quick side panels, i am going to remake them later. i had a go at rewinding the motor so now it should be about 100kv. i cut the frame and remade the bottom tube to give it more room for the batteries aswell.

got the back sprocket mounted

this is my set up so far it has a 14t front and 76t rear sprockets and pulls really well, i got it upto 30mph but i had no brakes and a low battery
but i have welded some m8 bolts to the frame to fit some mountain bike calipers on the back :D

Awesome bike! i really like e-bmx's, and chopping\welding the frame for batteries is exactly what i have thought about for a bmx frame :)
really like the idea and the finished bike :) keep it up
btw whats the total weight of the finished bike? and what batteries (V and AH and C rate) you have there?

thanks, the total weight is heavy lol. i haven't weighted it yet but i will post when i have.
the batteries are old laptop ones made into 4cells 8 pack so there is 32 in a pack. i have 4 of theses in there and i charge them to 60v.
the bike has a lot of pull but i need to drop the gear ratio really, i am going to try a 11t front sprocket and see how it gos.

I'm surprised you have made a bmx for speed, not nipping about. Also that your riding it without that top gear pulley covered up. You know it's going to maim you when you fall off.

Obviously your son is the most sensible kid on the block, but do you think his friends have the road sense and safety gear to keep you out of court?
As an example, My brother died at 17 trying a friends m/c. It could only do 30mph and was nowhere near that. The girl on the back upset his balance it's said. Now he's dead and she's brain damaged. I'm not sure how my dad would of felt had it been an illegal bike he had made them, Or one of the other dads had made.

Just tell me he's been riding dirt bikes all his life and won't let anyone else have a go. Though if this is not so, consider making a wheelie machine that can wheel spin and do doughnuts with a top speed closer to what the law allows.

wow i bet your fun to be around.
