eScan <<my ES kickstarter and new product>>

I dont think that those 3 components will make it any better than simple resistor. Maybe its faster, but we are talking seconds here. By te time you press the switch and scanner goes active, then scanning fingerprin, 3 seconds will pass. I think that propper precharge has to sense cap charge level, sense if throttle is engaged and perhaps some other things to make it 100% reliable.
On the other hand controllers for large ev's would have precharge circuitry onboard unless its some diy build on the budget.
It could be that I might come back to your and others suggestion to integrate precharge but at the moment I want to finish the switch and see how it does on the market. After all there is no point in throwing the money developing stuff that no one will need/like.
Appreciate involvement.

Is there a single application it wouldn't improve?

You also realize the resistor never gets the caps fully charged, so the contactor is pitted on make and will fail over time.

Why half ass it when you're so close and it's maybe $1 in parts to add so much functionality.

Do you have a schematics to see what you have in mind cause whenever I look it is more complicated that what you propose.

Have connected my scanner to fully functional ebike. It will be tested in off-road environment. For now its a quick/dirty demo, enjoy:

Yea I have been hoping for an update on this myself. I'm sure the price you will charge will be fair just like the last time
I purchased something from you. Ready to send you money so please let me know if you get there.

Some people rised concerns regarding operation I wet conditions, basically how reliable it will be out in a real world. I have done no other progress than installed in a bike which is nearing completion and getting painted. After that eScan will be used on daily basis in off road conditions, also in commning winter to test it in below freezing temperatures.
The power supply circuitry has to be changed and some cosmetics and ease of installation revised. I cant promise anything sooner than a year from now. Sorry about that but such stuff does not make a living and is done as a hobby.
Anyway, thanks for taking time and interest in stuff I come up with.

I think you have gotten good response and input from alot of people already. If you would like to secure pre orders from people that are also ready to put money down now you need to give those people a price. I've read your thread and not one price quote even when people are asking. I mean you are the one that is trying to "crowd fund" this project. I am sure many members will back you on this project so that you can source material, parts etc. But in order to do that we all need to know the price of this eScan ignition/pre-charger.

I know it might be hard to say an exact price as of now because parts might change etc. But as things stands now we don't know if this will cost 10 $, 50 $, 100 $, or 500$. So it makes no sense backing you financially when we don't know what price. If you think you can make it and sell it with a markup for ie between 30-60 $ just say so and I am sure many people would order and pay now. But some sort of min/max price is needed.

And I am certain that many backers will help with your development speed, motivation to do some long hours on weekends and nights too. From all the interest I'v seen I am sure a price point from you will make em put their money in.

My rough estimate was 120usd. I dont like taking money of people when I havo no time schedule and will not risk my reputation on not delivering.
It has to be properly tested before I can even think of larger scale production, otherwise its money and time wased. I have proof of concept, now real world testing, then production. When I will be set for production, I will run 5 units of my pocket and sell out to people who will be asked for opinion in regards of functionality ease of use etc. After that I could take preorders, no sooner.

True that. You should have been on the Copenhagen wheel team :)
For that price even if higher then what I expected I would get one just cos of the cool factor. And if any run ins with the police they can try for them self and see bike is "not high speed". :D

Yea that's about the price point I was expecting. I plan on being here in a year. By then I should have most of the kinks worked out of my latest build lol.

I like how you have one on your drift trike. looked pretty rad

I'm interested in this for one or more of my builds. I will also gladly alpha/beta test the product for you :D

BTW, how is limiting mode configured (speed?) and how do you add new finger prints?

its quite simple. All is done with two relays. One controlls ignition the other is meant for speed limiting. On testbed alltrax controller which does not have sorts of 3 speed as many chinese controllers I have done throttle through resistor. Whenever relay in engaged, resistor (potentiometer in my case so I could adjust limited speed) connects in parallel to the throttle. I think I have done it so limiting could achieved in different systems.
