Hi, and welcome to EP. Weight is definately a factor in efficiency of any set-up. And you are starting off a little heavy. RC Lipo is most power/weight ratio you can go with, but there's alot to learn about using it safely and not ruining it. Generally, the battery is the most expensive aspect of every build, because of needing periodic replacement/repair, etc. But, I'd say the consensus leans toward Lipo, in spite of all you've gotta learn about it. There are of course, many who use something else. There's something good to say about plug and play and nearly foolproof charging setups. But then, there's that weight thing again. Lipo has become alot safer in the past three or so years I'd say (as to explosions, melt-downs, and the like). But it demands respect and attention to detail. You don't just plug it in and walk away, unless you're rich and have a fireproof charging station not in the house. Gee....it's hard to believe I'm pitching Lipo as my favorite. Take your time and read as much as you can here....just about everything you could possible need to know has already been posted. I've sent you a private message, offering a bike frame and custom battery enclosure that I have....it would fit you. (which is why I don't ride it) Cheers~! (yet, another Dan)
