Yes, partially true. But, the US dollar is the main part of the IMF's currency reserves so that are not sheltered from it entirely. Australia is also a major exporter of "real" goods like coal et al. The banking bubble is constantly being pumped and eventually it will collapse taking the entire WORLDS economy down with it and the US's will fail, but it will fail MORE, because eventually the dollar will be dropped as the "world's " currency and all hell will break loose.

I agree. Hard to predict when this will happen; predictions have come and gone, and yet nothing, but I believe it is inevitable. I don't supprt Obama, but I had a chuckle when people criticized him that the economy didn't grow as much as he promised. Any system based on perpetual growth is doomed to fail. My analogy is maggots feasting on a corspe: They multiply exponentially, consuming & producing at an ever faster rate. They are very efficient, very industrious, a model that (disgusting aspect aside) would be exalted by todays society. However, eventually they run out of corpse and eat eachother. When they run out of eachother, there is nothing but flies and shit - and then the cycle starts over again on a new corpse. Another analogy: the unloaded brushed series motor - The current in the armature is the same as the current in the field, so as it spins faster the current deceases in the field, which propels it faster...and on and on until it spins itself into shrapnel. I am talking about any & all models based on perpetual positive feedback (biological, mechainical, societal, etc-ical) - This is the model, and the scenario would play out the same with any society based on it, regardless of whether the society was know for "the worlds most powerful army & worlds most well armed populace."
