IT IS FINALLY HERE!!! The MagicPie from GoldenMotor.

See MagicPie Kit in ACTION!!(Video)
Please wait for video to load finish. It's 17mb large and It wont play until it's fully loaded.

It just has so many good features:

1. Built-in function-rich reliable cruise controller
2. Super thin body (60mm only) for most existing bike frames
3. Large diameter means higher climbing torque and smooth riding
4. Single motor can take multiple battery voltages: 24V, 36V, 48V to get desired power and speed, only need to add more batteries.
5. Plug-and-Run, use easy and professional connectors
6. Adaptable to disc-brake and 6-speed sproket (gear wheel)

It is designed for any existing bike frames, one for all.

I am not knocking your kit at all, I just want to say that I really wish you took the advice that was given to you by just about everyone on the forum, and you re-thought the name.

advice from forums... they always do matter. because if we don't follow the advice given by the forums, then the business won't be able to perpetuate. naming conventions and designs made by professional designers, are not as professional as the people from the forums! that's logic!

ok goodbye i was doing my job to post here, this forum is a nightmare.

That motor is shaped more like a cake, but whatever ..it looks to be Golden Motor's most substantial e-Bike offering motor to date :)
Can we see a Drawing, Motor Performance Curve and Performance Data Sheet, please?

GoldenMotor, Relax :)

These are the absolute best people to be talking to, they are the people out there buying these motors. speaking as a business owner myself, Ive yet to see a brand design consultant get a product name right (ever). without doing a focus group or real world brand testing (which is being provided here free of charge)

Curious, are you a team member for Golden Motor, or the Owner?

Thanks
Tom

Ok, cool idea GM, how about this: Hold a "Name that motor" contest here on ES or across all the relavent forums, give the winner a drive setup on the promise he or she does a full review.

My submission: VersaMotor (because of the varying voltage option) SelectaDrive? SelecDrive? :)

I remember when you announced the name in one of the threads about GM turning around, and becoming a reputable company. Pretty much everyone that commented, didn't think it carried a good meaning for a motor. It may be memorable, but connoting it with food (and pie at that... when I think of pie, I think of one being shoved in someone's faces as a joke) is not a good idea.

And honestly, I would take the advice of people in this forum for almost anything as it relates to ebikes as something to be considered. Most of the active posters are either enthusiasts, or are in the e-bike biz them selves. The random newcomer to ebikes wouldn't take the time to say that your naming convention is bad.

I already said, I think your motor is probably very nice. You are just arrogant and think you are better than others because you have a title. Have fun with your business Mr "Professional Designer".

Is this where the problem starts with CS at ES or alike forums.

To be honest I looked past the name and the ps3 font and the people who took the picture of the bike has the award.

I didnt look at the video because I dont like apple software but thats just my take on anything with I on it.

But when the name was bought into contrast of what it could mean and sound like I do agree that Magic Pie is not by english standards in a western world a great choice.

In china if we called a bike the big mother bike they would think its funny and laugh but in english THE BIG MOTHER BIKE "may" have an appeal like a big mother SUV. Maybe a bad example but its the fist thing that came top my head.

LOL "Magic Pie" might mean one thing to your professional designers, but where I come from, it means something you probably wouldn't want to call your product

Maybe if it's waterproof and quiet, you can call it the "Wet Muff" instead?
Or if you want to make it sound quick and sleek like a cheetah: "Fast Pussy?"

It is not about how "professional" something is, it is about how the public will interpret a name.

In different cultures, and even subcultures within that culture, words and phrases have many different meanings than the ones in the big dictionaries one normally uses to translate from. Since you are going to want to market these motors worldwide, you might want to be sure there are no negative connotations, or laughable ones, to the name before you do so.

That is all people are trying to tell you--that this name does have such negative and laughable connotations in some pretty big cultures. Maybe potential customers won't be offended by this, but they might.

You don't seem to see it this way, but they're trying to *help* you, not hurt you.

Rather than just bag the work I try to offer an example of something better.

Well I'm not trying to get any prizes here as this is just a quick job to show what could be done and working with original pictures and materials would be worth spending some more time and thought into the designs format.

Id work with catch phrases and names leading to a model genre. I try to stay away from sausages bagels cheese cake and pies and look at what the product does.

hey, from now on i will speak like a chinese businessman.

you peoper cannot forget the word "Magic Pie", because lame it is, but unforgettable is true. therefore, name has served the purpose of it's birth.

That much is true and I know that people will buy your motor because its a good motor not because of the name you choose.

Good memories do not fade away either. Try to make good memories for people.

hi GoldenMotor, the name of a product can make or break it. I also must confess I was puzzled by the name Magic Pie. muff said, I meant 'nuff said.
hope they sell well :D

"It's a hub motor with a built in controller, with cruise control and regen braking. It's been in the testing stage for several months."
