It will not matter when your trying your best to keep it from flipping you on your back side. :p

I'm only curious because I finally built up the courage to do a chain drive conversion, but stealth on crowded trails was more important. The last thing I want to do is contribute to e-bikes being banned from local trails.

NICE.

I wonder if the smaller gear is replaceable (since it will be the one that wears out).

Have they been following this thread???

If only they sold the bits for people to upgrade...

Yep, its called R&R ( Ripoff and replicate and I'm guilty of doing the same) They gave us a great little motor, it doesnt bother me if they use our ideas to improve it. just wish the quality of components from there would improve enough to be usefull.

Wow, that looks pretty awesome. I wonder how loud they are in comparison to the belt drive.

On this thread here:

http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=47054&start=150

bzhwindtalker went rideing with Christerjung's GNG after his chain conversion from belt drive and said it was:

"Postby bzhwindtalker » Sat Aug 17, 2013 11:50 pm

the Stock GNG is quite silent but the combinaison of 100v and #25 chain mod makes it sound like most RC drives."

The chain in speedmd's pic looks bigger than #25/#219 (both 1/4-inch pitch), and I maybe it is #35 chain?

Since LightningRods is using #219 on his primary chain option, I also suspect there will eventually be an Extron composite sprocket available at sometime, runs quieter than metal sprockets.

I saw the heading for a new product when I was on the GNG site for some other purpose today. The pictures weren't available yet. It will be interesting to see what they have gotten right and what they have screwed up on this new model. So far nothing that GNG has done has come up to the level of the motor that they started with.

I'm having trouble finding the 'big block'. The source that I found for the normal 68mm wide motor says they can't get it and the Taobao vendor that sold my friend Antonio in Portugal the one that I've posted is not responding to Mister Tao. The thing with that motor is that the case is 25mm wider but the armature and field magnets are only about 6mm wider. There is a lot of empty air inside of that wide case.

The new GNG with primary chain looks very nice!!

I'm still happy with the belt drive just yet since the Goodyear belt upgrade. After 100 miles it's not showing any wear. I reversed the belt and had a difficult time telling which direction it was originally in.

Instead of doing a shunt mod on the original controller, I now have a Lyen 12FET which I'm looking forward to installing.

Something that I learned which was counter-intuitive at first is that the phase wires carry more amps than the battery wires. It is deceiving, especially when you look at the GNG phase wires as they are so much thinner than the controller battery wires. Seeing the Lyen controller programming software and other informative posts, I am now set straight on that fact.

I noticed on my last ride with a long uphill climb, that the yellow phase wire connector box was the hottest thing on the bike. It wasn't getting any air, but clearly, the phase wire connectors is a good upgrade point.

I have bullet connectors now which will be part of the controller upgrade.

At what amperage would the stock motor phase wires be a problem? I'm guessing since I haven't found any posts about replacing the phase wires that it's not really a weak link.

If the 48V "450W" gives 1000w in the real world, what will a 60v pump out?
total cost for uk is £293.62 including 3 to 7 day postage,.. thats good for the modded kit, i dont know what the cost of import duty will be though ??

some people have removed the yellow phase wire connector box because of problems with them, i had a intermittent connection with mine, never had a problem with the motor running intermittently since i removed it.

They sent me the photo yesterday morning after I got the invoice and I wanted to make sure it was the bigger motor as I suspected it was not. Looks the same, and judging by the lack of response to my specifics, it confirms this somewhat.

They sell the trike motor kits also. I just want the motor. Would not be a problem to spin the center case down a few MM to take out air space or even fit a internal fan.

LR, I wrote several top manufacturers about them also. They want larger minimums, but are not middle men. It will take some time to nurture the relationships. Hopefully we can get a real hopped up big block for this setup. Thin lams, high temperature wire /mags, and a temperature sensor. WEEEeeeee!

I may consider picking one of these up for a commuter bike sometime down the line. Maybe for my wife if she's interested.

Hey guys, is there any developments in the std kit? Where's the cheapest place to get this these days? I want to get one for my brothers bike he's finally ready to go through the gears!

I wonder if Mister Tao or one of the other Taobao buyers would buy a GNG kit and just send the motor and jackshaft? They could just throw the rest away in China and save on postage. I know that sounds funny but I'm serious. Why pay to have junk shipped to you that you are going to replace and throw away? I am actually going to send a message asking that question.

Is Mister Tao a place to get these? He's looking to order tonight!
