help with choosing a controller

kind new to choosing hardware. in this post I'm wondering what controller i should use.
take the nd series for example, they have the 800, 850, 1000, 1200 and many more.
my current motor of choice is the siaecosys 155-64 rated at 12kw. how do i determine what controller is ideal vs a controller that is only acceptable?
my battery you ask is a lfp 96v @ 200ah, with a recommended 1c discharge rate with perhaps 2c max.

I had an Efneo for a while. It was basically like a triple chainwheel crank and front derailleur all contained in a little zero maintenance disc. Smaller than the triple would have been and never dropped the chain since it used internal gears instead of moving the chain around to change gears. Definitely a much nicer experience than a fiddly front derailleur triple crankset.

I think Grin even sold them for a while. The advertised benefit was that you could pedal fast enough to assist your motor at high speed without a ridiculously large front crank wheel. So instead of a 75t front chainwheel to contribute pedaling at 30mph without ghost pedaling, you could use one.

Disadvantage was that it was low production volume and so expensive.

Modern gearboxes are built into the bottom bracket, like the Pinion one. So the disadvantages are only worse since now you need an expensive, custom, low production volume bit of hardware and now also an expensive, low production volume, custom frame. Efneo was nice since you could slap it on anything that took that common bottom bracket size. It didn't need a cavity built into the frame just for it.

Controller for what? I doubt what you have is an ebike (you posted in Ebike Technical) if you're using a 12kw motor and a 200Ah 96v battery. Let us know what it is so I can move this to the appropriate forum section.

Also, describing what you have (vehicle, weight of it, rider, passengers, cargo, etc), how you will use it, your riding conditions, terrain, weather/wind, acceleration requirements, etc will help us help you choose a controller that can do those things.

Listing all the features you want from the controller and the things you want it to do for you, such as types of control inputs it must accept, any data outputs it must provide, or other equipment it must work with or come with, will also help.

what do they do to make the ebike better?
where can i buy one.
what ratios do i want

thanks all
Gearbox for what? I doubt what you have is an ebike (you posted in Ebike Technical) if you're using a 12kw motor and a 200Ah 96v battery which your other thread about controllers says. Let us know what it is so I can move this to the appropriate forum section.

Also, describing what you have (vehicle, weight of it, rider, passengers, cargo, etc), how you will use it, your riding conditions, terrain, weather/wind, acceleration requirements, etc, how many gears you need to shift among, how you want to shift them, what ratios you need, what RPM your motor spins at and what your wheel speed must be, will help us help you choose a gearbox that can handle those things.

Does anyone know I might find a listing of USA distributors for ebike/emotorcycle parts?
I'm looking to purchase various parts like motors or controllers from companies with inventory in the USA.
Yes I already know about temu, aliexpress, alibaba, ebay and amazon. but none of these have a good selection of motors especially in Usa.

With trumps tariffs in place paying 2 1/2 times the cost is a non starter for me.

I'm looking at the siaecosys 155-64 as a baseline but would like more power and a reduction gear bolt on. maybe something in the 15-30 kw range.

thanks

Moved your motorcycle project posts out of separate threads in the ebike section into a single thread in the motorcycle section to keep all the info for your project together so those helping you can do so better.

It would also be helpful if you reply to the questions so we can provide correct information and useful feedback to you.

That post was about a 3D printed fairing (i readded that in in () for them); somehow that part didn't carry over when I moved the latest in the string of separate threads by the OP into this one (because they keep posting their motorcycle stuff in the ebike section, and keep making new threads instead of responding to the one they already have)
