I recently bought a 2005 Kona Stinky for my next build, and have a 9c "1606" hub motor for it. No disc brake mount, but it is threaded on both sides. I remember seeing there's a freewheel -> 6 bolt disc brake adapter, but I can't find it. Am I remembering wrong, or does this exist somewhere?

It's down the page in repair parts.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead.. looks like the adapters are gone? Only got 6" rotor versions now? Any idea where else I might be able to get my hand on two sets of these adapters?

Ah, I checked that website.. I can buy (for less) two sets of adapters with 6" rotors and a v-brake to disc brake adapter + disc caliper haha

edit:

yepp, all cause of shipping

Meh. Just use regen for your rear brake...

I have some thread-on adapters removed from e-bikekit 180mm discs, but to use them you'd need to secure them to your own discs. Originally they were riveted to the discs they came with; you could probably use nut-and-bolt, though.

The holes are not ISO standard, but whatever is probably typically used on Chinese discs. So you would also need to either file the holes in an ISO disc outward to match these, or get discs with that pattern already.

Anyway, I can send you one for the cost of mailing it, if you think you can DIY enough to make it work--it should fit in a padded envelope and thus probably cheap to ship to you in Utah.

Choppers US sells one,

and I thought that E-bikekit.com did, too, but I don't see it anymore.

Or Ypedal has something else you might use, also in that thread

The usual is for a spin on adaptor is to have the holes too wide for ISO standard, but choppersus.com makes one that will take both sizes.

You don't need to do anything special with it, just spin it on, add the brake, and go. I've been running one since 2008 without a problem.

My two cents.

I wouldn't run any rotor larger than 6in on an adapter with threads. Too much torque will be applied on the outside of the rotor and could just rip the treads out.

Only so much torque is needed to lock up the rear wheel so size of rotors won't matter. I just like the even look of 8" front and back.. but its easy to see why regen + 8" hydraulic brakes aren't needed for the rear.

8" hydraulics in the front are quite necessary though.
