Hub wire repair

I had been putting off a hub wire replacement. Finally tore into it. It wasn’t as bad as it could have been. I had to cut and solder the wires in the hub. It actually works now. I thought the hardest part was going to be getting the wire through the axel hole. It wasn’t super easy, but it went through. What a feeling to take something someone trashed and repair it back to working order. Feels great. Now if I can just fix a code 15 on something else.

Sadly I recycle every hub motor that comes to me with trashed axle wiring. There might be an exception sooner or later, but there is nothing about a regular commonly available hub motor that justifies the time to fix it plus the risk that the fix is not enough.

I doubt that would help very often because mostly when hub wires get damaged it is because they get thrashed right at the axle end exit. It would help if the plug you propose was designed to unplug when the axle spins around, but that would not keep dropouts and axle threads from getting bungled.

Well, it’s a learning experience. Turns out code 15 can be any component that is not functional. This interrupts the signal to the display. Turns out unplugging the PAS worked. I learned how to trouble shoot on this one.
Small things. Then check the big ones.
I happened to have an extra PAS sensor. All is well.
