Hello and thanks in advance for your assistance.

I've got a 1000W BBSHD (UART) purchased from AliExpress in 2018 and I recently moved to a custom built 52V (14S) battery. Using a BBSHD programming cable and BafangConfigTool, I was able to get into the controller settings and adjust start power. I also have an ST-Link V2 on hand.

My 850C doesn't have a 52V option in the battery settings at all. I was looking if it was possible to just flash the firmware from the newer 850c displays but according to my brief research, it is locked and not available. It seems that my only options are to flash both the controller and display if a want a decent looking modern display with 52v battery option and its gauge.

I've already found a guide on github that tells where to solder the SWD pins to the ST Link but just want to know if the only option is to program both the display and controller. I really wish I could just flash the display and be done with it. I believe I have all the tools required though and just looking for pointers or word from anyone who have actually flashed either the display or the controller.
What do you all recommend avoiding bricking it all.

Any help appreciated!
