I already bought a brushed controller for this motor, once it arrived I see on the lable and instructions it claims to be brushless. Only 2 wires. Can I go ahead and hook this thing up without expecting catastrophic failure?
Maybe it's a fake? Only brushless motor with only two wires I've seen is a Bionx rear hub with a built-in controller. You could take it apart and search for one, I suppose.
Wow so weird. I'm thinking they mislabeled it somehow. You'd think they would advertise if it had a built in controller and provide some other wires for throttle and stuff no? Ill take it apart and have a look before hooking up.
Thank you for taking the time to find that info.
Should be fine to run this type of motor in forward and reverse right?

Yes; swap wires, swap directions. Magic! It does look like it has a gear system slapped on the end, but that's likely all just changing the gear ratio, just fixed gears, so it'll go either way just fine.
Strange, thanks for clearing that up. Made a mount for this sucker yesterday hopefully I'll have the bike ready in the next couple days and can test out this new motor.
The bikes I'm working on all have aluminium hubs making it very hard to weld on a steel freewheel just hoping I can make it work a second time lol
