Does anyone have experience with the Leaf brand of hub motors?
1. Do the motor connectors have waterproof connectors similar to Julet and or HICO connectors?
2. What precautions do you take if the motor connections do not have the above connectors?
3. How do you protect the motor controller from water?

Regards
Steve

1. no
2. none
3. installed case with wires pointing down.

I did a couple of Leaf installs early in my e-bike career, but have since moved on to geared hubs and mid drives as they suit my purposes better. My bikes are ridden for my enjoyment, and are not ridden in the rain unless I get caught in a shower. I still own one of those early bikes, assembled in late '16, and it's never given even an ounce of trouble....

1. Leaf brand of hub motors typically come with IP67 waterproof connectors. 2. If the motor connections do not have waterproof connectors, you should use waterproof tape or gaskets when making the connections. You should also make sure that the connections are sealed and insulated from moisture and dust. 3. To protect the motor controller from water, you should install a waterproof enclosure. You should also check the connections and seals regularly to ensure they are in good condition and not exposed to water. Additionally, you should use waterproof tape or gaskets when making connections to the motor controller.

1. Nope
2. All connections are in my connector box (not waterproof, but located high, and shields them from splashes)
3. It's sealed and its connections are in my connector box

I reached out to Leaf inquiring about connectors.
Their response with a photo.
"We can make 1500w motor with below waterproof cable."

No indication in the response that the motor controller comes with the proper cable to interface.

If you read the various posts, their kit controllers don't have the greatest reputation. If you go the L10, you might want to have them match the pinouts for a Grin controller that comes with L10 connectors so at least you know what you're getting. The motor should have a male connector. You can also have them add a temp sensor to the motor (NTC 10K) since the connector/cable supports it.
