I searched the forums but didn't really find the info that I'm looking for.

I am trying to connect a Magura throttle to a Lyen controller (9 fet sensored). I believe that all of Lyen's controllers use the same wire coloring scheme including black, green, and red.

The Magura that I purchased from JRH (http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php?productid=280) has 3 wires coming out of it. Black, brown, and blue.

Questions:

1) The other threads seem to show that everyone is hooking up resistors to the wires? Is this necessary?

2) What color wires match from the throttle to the controller? e.g. black-black, brown-green, blue-red?

Thanks.

You can connect directly. This results in some dead space at both ends. The Magura is a pot, so it does 0-5V whereas the hall throttles do something like 1-4V.

I put a 2K pot at each end of the Magura and adjusted them to get the full range on the Magura.

The wiring colors are here on the forum. Lyen probably has it as well.

I have set up two bikes with Lyen infineons and Maguras.
I followed "Methods" set up using a 1K resistor in line with the +5V and a 3K resistor inline with GND. These are the small cylindrical resistors with the coloured bands on them.
Works flawlessly and has full resolution in the throttle.

Cheers,
Matt.

btw, i really like this throttle. it's working well and i actually like the bit of dead space at both ends. i was afraid that the throttle would be too twitchy and it's not (i'm afraid that i'll grab the throttle to get the bike and it will go off running...)

anyway, i think this is a must-have upgrade for everyone out there.
