Making my BBSHD build look better

Hi, this is my first post on the forum, so if i'm doing something wrong or missing important info, please correct me :)

This is how my ebike looks like now. I was aiming for a powerful build made for hilly forest trails.
Here are some basic specs:
frame: giant reign 2 2015 XL
motor: bafang bbshd
battery: triangle 52v

The main issue i have is with the cable cluster near the rear shock. I can buy a shorter cable connecting the motor to the battery, which would help a bit but i have no idea what to do next. The disconnected cables are for the headlight and shift sensor, which i havent gotten around to installing yet. I cant squeeze them inside the battery case, there is barely any space.
The cable cord leading from the motor to the display is too long, so i had to wrap it around the downtube, which is also probably not the best approach.

I would also like the bike to not look like a home-made death machine if for the police or anyone else who notices it. What could help me with that? I would really appreciate any help and tips.

A dozen zip ties or more, bundle wires run them under the battery bag . Johnnynerdout has some build videos will show how to make it look cleaner.

For the wiring issue - i would recommend sizing up a smaller sized controller case that would fit directly in front of the motor Stator. This is an example of a smaller case that i used for a project. Bundle your excess wiring, into it, as a pass-through box. That'll help to take care of the mess around the shock. Do similar near right top-angle battery at the steering stem, to gather up excess cabling. Centralize your wiring together, and route it to those boxes, gather excess together, move it along. A few judiciously placed jumbo zip-ties to run your wiring bundle along the frame, are your friend. The controller boxes can be found aplenty on Amazon, in a variety of sizes. 20251226_202701.jpg

What gauge spokes on your rear wheel? I yoinked a half-dozen on rear wheel, in an unintentional wheelie. (BBSHD in low gear at a stop sign, ugh..)

Otherwise, for DIY, looks ok by me. (y) Cleaner than my mongrel anyway, LOL.

Thanks for the tips, concerning the spokes i dont really know - i got the bike used and the seller said all the parts were stock.

For the wiring mess, i think i will do it like hillslayer@ said. Mounting the boxes on the bike would fix the issue, but it would add unnecessary clutter.
 
There are little flexible plastic rear mug guards that slot in under the seat, "ass savers", the copies aren't nearly as good.
 
Paint the frame the same color as the bag (and coincidentally same color as most of the wiring); this will give the illusion of a more solid, unified appearance.
 
It's a pretty cool build, and it functions. Now you just have to finish it.

I chuckled because the cable routing reminded me of my brother's friend (male) who custom built a house on his own.
He ran into the male mindset of functional = attractive, with a hideously dysfunctional kitchen, and a house that only appealed to a moody bachelor living alone, and likely to do so for the rest of his life.

You can now spend some time cleaning up, re-routing, cable wrapping and (I cannot emphasize this enough) using something other than black zip ties to incrementally clean up the aesthetics.

Here is a pic of my second build (no battery) , and I still have at least 3 cable routing issues to address.
I used a fine mesh cable routing, and at my handlebars, there are 7 cables ....
95% is easy - the last 5% takes some thinking .....

Very nice. My last experiment was to see if all the cables could be run with nothing but zip-ties.
Just an idea I had back in the day of screw cable-clamps. Had to try it.
It works! Not too pretty like yours, though. 😂
 
I'm not liking the tolerance between the battery and that shock that moves.
Any way to slide it further forward?
