Molicel P42A, Sony/Murata US18650VTC5D in 14s5p battery packs sounds like a good deal?

Probably should have saved them, but I threw out the case and BMS last week. Saved the funky wrappers though. New cell wraps and washers came from imrbattery. I feel a lot safer with those exposed ends covered up. I shorted my wedding ring against one and it could have taken my finger off. I will get around to testing the capacity on a few cells.

This is my vise spreading apart the two halves of the original matrix.

Breaking apart a battery pack can be most exciting, though the rule for working on electric stuff is no rings, jewelry, or metal framed glasses.

Once again I'll ask the question: has anyone had any luck figuring out the pack's installed bms?
Unless there is a path to getting it functional I too will desolder/cut out the installed bms. Probably in a week or two.

I had success with prying up the two end connections of battery to bms, with a screwdriver, banging it. and running an angle grinder over the two center connections. Of course the bms is destroyed but it’s off and a lot easier than any other method I tried. I’ve done 7. 3 of them came with 2.0-2.5v cells they said I could return or keep and I kept them and nursed them back to 3.3.

Nope haven't made any headway on that front. The BMS remains a mystery on how to activate it. least to me.

I had to pause on the batt, I was tied up with coaching middle school tennis and few volunteer days running sailing races. Taking a break tomorrow to fish some small mouth bass.

If any of you have your bms middle section some what intact, can you double check the 5 small pins in the middle and which wires they correspond to on the 5 pin connector.

Pls see @daleconvert post #20, pls confirm that is accurate.

I am waiting too, but the first battery I removed the BMS already. So it will get the tiny bms. No way would I spend what they cost now, There are the bms's from MAXKGO, your battery management expert and ENNOID which appear to be small and as simple or complex as you want.

I don't know if this is simple or complicated, MAXKGO BMS installs the correct battery wiring, then uses the data cable to connect to the computer, open the BMS TOOL for BMS configuration

I was referring to centralized BMS as simple, The master/slave BMS as complex. An oversimplification I know.

Sorta for the most part gave up on it, only have one left thats intact and Im probably going to scrap it as well, figured its more effort than its worth when I can pick up an equivalent bt ant/jk/jbd bms off aliexpress for maybe $50 🤷‍♂️
