I’m finally getting this going and will put my related questions here.
I have a motor design I’m excited about that’s almost finished but hoping to hear feedback related how best to lock the solid 26mm ALUMINUM shaft on one end. It needs to not spin of course, and still be able to slide forward and aft to tighten the belt.
Best/safest plan seems using this locking bushing that will sit in kind of a locking slider piece, that bolts to the slotted dropouts in the frame. Kinda like a bicycle modular dropout piece. Any other options? I’d get the hardest available aluminum. This seems acceptable on the drive side.
The other side of the shaft is hollow with a 26mm hole that’ll feed air in and across the airgap, which is the exciting part of the design and why the complications, but I’m hoping on this side just to use (4) m4 bolts that would clamp to the dropouts both holding the torque and the pull of the belt. This is risky though and wonder if u have any other possible ways to do this?
These are the two aluminum hub halves that will hold the stator and will glue them together along the biggest diameter cylindrical faces
And the last pic is the rotor side plate that has holes for the air to be thrown out and will bolt on a printed fan for that
Pics of the bike and the motor it came with. The motor was broken and not the right kv anyway.
