Motors with CE approval

Hello all

I was looking into the forum and could not find a list with CE approved brands for hub motors.

I bought a Puch Maxi and will be converting it to an electric moped.
I will need to take it for road legality approval and as such i need to use CE certified components for controller and wheel.
I am looking for a 1000W or more hub wheel but the only brands I saw with CE approval is QS motors and Bafang. These 2 suppliers dont give me a very big choice.
I am looking for something capable of getting me to about 50kph (45kph is the legal limit)

The open size i have on the Puch is about 135mm.

Thanks in advance

i doubt that any of the stuff you see from china actually has ce approval. lots of if, perhaps all of it, will have a ce mark, or ul listing mark, but that doesn't mean it actually has any approval or even was put thru the process. (almost certainly does not / was not).

here in the usa, ul keeps an actual listing of stuff that actually has ul approval. i'm sure ce does as well, so if you want to find out what does have approval, you could check with them.

alternately, you could pick some systems that will do the work you need them to, then check with ce to see if they're listed.

just make sure you buy the motor in Europe. nothing can be sold without CE in Europe. if the goods come from china, the importer/reseller is responsible for CE.

There isn't actually any such thing as CE approval, it's a self certification marking that basically says "by attaching this mark I accept all liability for this product". Take a good look at the CE mark before trusting it though, The C and E should form 2 circles joined like a figure of 8 on its side. There is also a marking that looks almost identical but the C and E are closer together, the circles would overlap kind of like the Olympic symbol and it means pretty much nothing. You don't see it much these days but it's still worth doing a double take just in case, the QS motors definitely have the correct marking.

Thanks for some of the clarifications.
The question then remains:
Is there a place/store in Europe that sells quite powerful hub motors? About 1500W maybe more.

Good luck to get this road legal. At this moment it is almost a mission impossible.
I build a few things but never got a positive result at the RDW. The rules are so weird. The RDW doesn't understand them therselfs.

In Netherlands there is a store called Devi-Motion where these systems can be bought.
They are sold from Netherlands and the importation is on their side. I was informed that their motors (branded as golden motors) are used for conversions so I will be using of motor from this store's options.

I finally got myself a place to work on the motorcycle and started assembly of the components. The front suspension had to be replaced because there were some welded parts to it, and it would fail the road legal test at the RDW.

I am now facing 2 issues:
1-I have spent the last 2 months looking for a place where i can order a sprocket for a 1/2" x 1/8" or 1/2" x 3/16" chain with 9 or 10 teeth.
The problem is when i need the inside diameter to be 12mm and have a 4mm key.
I have found a couple of websites from US and UK but it makes a 5€ sprocket cost around 50€ with shipping. This is non sense to me.
If anyone knows a place/store that sells sprockets with modified bore holes in the netherlands or with an acceptable shipping cost to the netherlands, please let me know.

2-i am also trying to find a place to order laser cut plates (aluminum or steel) to assemble the motor and battery to.
The frame has enough connection points to have this be bolted but i still cant find a place close to eindhoven where i can have these components built. That information would also be welcome.

I will be uploading photos of the build in time, as the PUCH starts getting a real shape.

Here are some photos of the motorcycle when i bought it. Some photos have the motor assembled but i bought it without the engine.
