on my set ups, I have square taper on two ebike & Isis on another, the left Isis crank rides very close to the left side of the motor case.

Gman1971 claimed the the square tapers were junk or something of the like.

It seems the Isis crank, which has no visible taper on BB axle compared to square taper, may very slowly be getting closer to the BB shell on the chain ring side. It gets taken off frequently and then firmly tightened -- is the crank arm grip area expanding?

I have had no series problems with either of them. If your choice is not in stock, I doubt whether a wait for your first choice is worth the time, as it can take a motor dealer company some time to get restocked. The Isis restocking can take a month or more with Luna. And SBP?

Isis means terrorists cranks so careful with your wording.

A newer version of Cyclone 3000 motor arrived today. The motor securing bracket now has black anodized aluminum sheets but the shape is the same as the aluminum ones.

But there is one new feature:



The Stanton adapter is just under 1.5" and the hole in the chain guard is just bigger than 1.25". So the hole can be cut out to fit the Stanton using a 1.5" hole saw and reversing a 1.25" hole saw and fastening it to a common 1/4" x 6" shaft that passes and connects the two hole saws.

Here is the double hole saw fixture -- the smaller one acts as a centering bushing.



The hardtail is up and running as quiet as ever -- it does not need more silence as I can sneak up on people -- with the motor powering the wheel.

I put the green 18T [ 6 pawl] White Ind Freewheel on the motor -- did not even hesitate to get rid of the new silver OEM freewheel.

The motor mount was again stiffened using 4 gear clamps and replacing the wobbly hinge set up bolt stack with 2 Grade 8 - 1/4" x 4.5" cap screws that were installed from one side to the other. I made 2- 1.06" long x 1/8" pipe spacers to replace the silver metric threaded standoffs. I had to drill out the other 4 black spacers to 1/4" from 6mm.

Who has the new kits in stock? I asked Luna and they weren't getting them in anytime soon. I still think Cyclone should do some easy mods on their mounts and they would sell even better. The problem with the Cyclone is that it is such a DIY kit. Having a crossbar like LA ebike made, but more in between the plates than theirs and using larger size bolts with inserts is all it would take. Also, why can't they figure out the dimesions so you don't need a half-link on the chain or chain tensioner? That said, the power and weight of the Cyclone is so much better than a BBSHD! It is the best bang for the buck out there by a mile. I'd recommend it to anyone that wants a higher powered ebike.

Could you do me a favor and check the new black metal mounts with a magnet? Painted means steel witch is cheaper but easier to weld. I've emailed the la Ebike guy about that mount with suggestions, got replies, but my last email has gone unanswered, it's been a week tomorrow. I mentioned adjustable to eliminate the tensioner.

I used a tool magnet the first time for the test of determining whether the frame plates were steel or aluminum. For your request to use a magnet I will use a neodymium magnet as it can barely lift a stainless steel nut -- whereas an ordinary tool magnet cannot.

No attraction whatsoever. They are also too light to be stainless steel. The finish is likely black paint on aluminum -- maybe 6061?

Have had my kit for a few weeks and with only a minimal time in my sched (30min-60min herethere) my bike has been upside down sense the initial unbox and ascertain the situation soon after it arrived. Actually rode it for 1st titime tonight.. the tourque is every bit of amazing. Great feeling to get tires this big spinning. after the initial enertia if everything is still in tact you can ease into and have plentry to go by the time I'm noticing little issues with the rest of the bike. If you are not pressed to commute on it, I would totally suggest it for the expandable platform to build on. There will be teeth

Where is the controller? In the winter [temps below freezing] I have put it inside the triangle pack but as Spring came on it got quite warm there even with the pack's zippers a little open. I soon moved mine outside but experiment as you wish. You could get a hot C.

Yes the controller is stuffed in the bag for now. I commute on a front hub drive set up that is amazing in the snow. We just got another 6" here in Bend Or this morning. Yippee!

What about them? =) The 7.5kw has no primary reduction (motor direct to chain), so you're not going to be doing any pedaling at all. I assume it's the same for the higher powered kit. They're also bigger and heavier.

the Cyclone motors bigger the 3000w maybe useful for some facsimile HPC would sell as the ultimate edirtbike but they do seem worthless for making a simple nimble trail bike. Yes, a 200 kph trail bike with 18 kw motor ....just what everyone needs.

Yes, with the 18 kw motor you could get to the trail head the quickest but ....jelly ...

I never see the big boys with the KTM 650 motocross cycles on the trails I ride but I would rather have the KTM reliability than getting hours worth of invention invested in tinkering with the 200 kph 18kw toy for trail riding. I would buy a used KTM 650 before this.

From what I remember my cyclone controller from Luna had little white plastic bands with printing on them indicating each plugs intended use. This may have been elimated as each plug is different so screwing it up would be nearly impossible to do. Ignore wire colors that change from each side of the matching plug. You will have unused connectors on the controller for the ebrakes, pas, and 3 way power switch. I ended up shortening my wireing and eliminating most of my plugs. I did this for two reasons. I had a softball sized wire mess I had to try to tame. Secondly I had the bike stop while doing some low tide beach riding after I rode through some very shallow water a bit to fast. I also shortened my unused wires but left the ebrake plug and the multi wire black plug going to the motor, think they are the hall sensor wires. Heat shrink tube, solder, etc. but you may want to get it going first then decide if plug removal and wire shorting is needed.

I just got my kit and have a couple of questions about the add ons I got with it.

I got the Cadence Sensor and the E-Brake cutouts. How do these mount? It seems to me they each should have a magnet along with each sensor but there weren't any.

You didn't get the two round chrome magnets with your order? They have the hole in them, shown in the picture you posted. You need to attach the sensor and magnet to your brake levers. I think the pedal sensor is optical or similar and does not need a matching magnet, could be wrong.

OK, looking through the big box-o-parts I did find the round magnets for the E-brake sensors!

However I'll have to spend a bit more time looking over everything as that pedal cadence sensor does not look like it is optical.
