Hey everyone,

I've been shadowing the forum gathering knowledge for quite some time and finally decided to join the growing EV discussion. :D

Quick back story:
18741945_10103539927553619_1773317118_n.jpg

My first ebike! Montague Paratrooper folding bike. Converted with an electric rider 7240 High Torque build kit & HPC frame bag. Also built working LED brake lights
Battery: 72V 15ah
Range: 50 miles @ 20 mph no pedaling or 15 Miles cruising @ 35 mph.
Top Speed: 44 Mph on level ground
Total Weight: 75 lbs

I mainly use the bike to commute to work daily on clear sunny days. Each way is 12 miles of mostly residential roads with the speed limit as low as 20 mph to 40 mph on a main road single lane road. No bike lanes throughout the route either. Been doing this in the warmer months of the year for 3 years.

Since the bike folds I can also take it on the train, car etc. or keep a watchful eye on it underneath my desk.

See you around!

A true Montague Paratrooper has what is probably the strongest hinge of any folder.

Good to know
So its good for cool handsome dudes in the 300+ pounder club. I mean I got a bit of a gut but I am tall so the 300 lbs is stretched out. ;)

Like I said I want one because on a day like today, when I did not feel like riding the looong uphill climb back home, and all the buses that I waited for were short buses because its Saturday, and short buses never have bicycle racks. Now if it was a weekday, about 2 cycles of buses there would hopefully be a regular bus with a bicycle rack.

The frame itself, new costs $800(CAD) which is what I'd buy, or better yet a used one, but its rare to see one up for sale used. I look at the majors in online classifieds like pinkbike and Kijiji, rarely if ever do I browse Craigslist as its not as popular in Canada.

I'm not a big fan of folders, but it clearly suits your needs. Cool that your desk is so spacious underneath. Where to put the e bike while you work is a big dilemma for most people. You solved it beautifully.

Just realized what looks so funny about the desk, that is a stand up desk, or you've got a tall chair. That makes it easy to fit a 26" bike under there. 8)

Nice build. You're getting some good specs there. Thudbusters are great.

Thanks Fechter! I put a lot of thought into my first build. Took a year of reading and research and contemplating before i bit the bullet and emptied my wallet. Because it's a hardtail I went with the thudbuster to help with the cushion. The over-sized tires helped too.

Paratrooper will be my next bicycle as I need a folder for the bus and for the train during rush hour.

That's exactly why i went with the Montague paratrooper frame. It was designed through DARPA and issued to Special forces paratroopers hence the name. Despite the weight penalty the bike is very nimble and I have taken it plenty of times on the train. In Boston, folding bikes are allowed on any train at any time as long as it's folded, even during rush hour. So this gives me a unique advantage over other ebikes because basically what I have is a folding moped i can take anywhere with at any time.
I also have fit it in cars as small as a fiat 500 (although not fun). But the bike can fit in the truck of any economy sized car with ease.

Thanks Dogman Dan! When looking I knew I wanted a folder for it's great advantages but still wanted a folder to feel like a full-sized bike.

Coming into work I always got a lot of odd looks at first but later on people began fascinated asking question. Eventually I became the unofficial bike guru in my office.

I actually got both a stand-up desk and a tall chair. The chair is a bit uncomfortable over long periods of time, but i think that comes with the point of having a stand up desk.

I love montague bikes. My first ride was a x70.

They are as strong as any rigid bike yet truly folding. Mine was 80 kmh capable.

Wow that looks awesome! Did you carry the battery on your back or the rear rack?

I carried them on a topeak and later on the frame when I started using lipo. One of these cheap frame bags can carry 3 bricks on each side. That motor on the pic was the crystalyte 5304 (stealth bomber). Definitely not a good idea. Difficult to fit but doable anyway.

Now that I zoomed on your pic I see you use thudbuster as well. Is kind of mandatory for those bikes. The comfort really improves when you get one of Those. I used the other versión though.

Thanks. They work really well. The cost was initially a hard pill to swallow. I realized depending on how much riding I do. I have to replace the elastomers to the Thud buster LT every year.
