Hello

First time posting on forum. I’ll start with a very brief history. For as long as I remember I have been breaking, fixing, dismantling, modifying, improving, anything I can get my hands on. A couple years back I found two Razor (electric 24v lead acid) scooters on the side of the road marked free. The price was right so I grabbed them. Since then I went through the progression of getting them running. Then I over-volted for more speed, I changed sprocket size for more hill climbing power, and then moved away from the heavy batteries and switched to lithium. Then I built a powder coat oven and transformed them into my game day ride from my free parking spot across town to The Bank to watch my Beloved Vikings taunt me with prospect of a world championship year after year. 28yrs to be exact.

So this brings me to my current project. I want to make a reverse Trike with 3 hub motors, three separate brushless controllers, powered by three separate batteries, tied to one throttle and LCD to be used for cruise and varied speed (low med high) I want to use single sided axle hub motor wheels up front and am open to a traditional axle in the rear. I have all the steering geometry figured out and I will fabricate the frame myself. I have amassed an embarrassing amount of e300 razor scooters from mint to unrecognizable condition so I will cut them up and use them as partial donor’s until I run through them all. I plan to TIG weld everything so I won’t have any grinding or filing to contend with.

Now to the barriers I am having. The availability of various controllers, hub motors, throttles, LCD’s, etc is mind numbing.

I am seeking input on quality hub motors 8-12” paired with a quality controller, and compatible throttle and LCD. I don’t equate quality with price. It’s usually the inverse. I am hoping to tap into the wealth of knowledge here to point me in the direction of quality components that have a proven track record of success. My budget is limited and with subsequent builds I will be able to make component upgrades. I am trying to stay away from places like Allybaba and that crap, but when you compare prices it’s hard to pay someone else’s mark up. I also don’t know about the reputability of those direct to consumer places. But if I can source quality components it would be worth buying in bulk. I look forward to any and all ideas comments or just talking about building stuff. I’ll see if I can attach a pic of my SKOL SKOOT ( version 3) IMG_7716.jpegIMG_7724.jpeg

I don't know much about scooter parts but, on scooters ( an ebikes ), VESC controllers are awesome and a great fit for small high RPM wheels.

Motors? i know spintend has what looks like a nice selection of scooter motors and parts but i haven't shopped around - more of an ebike guy.

Thanks! Everything helps. The more info I can get the better I will understand the components.

Here is my recommendation for single sided hub motors:

The good thing about Leaf Bike motors is that they will make special windings on request, so you know that you can get three electrically matched motors from them. Assume you will use at least 35A per motor or else get smaller motors.
