for those that were not at the track or watching on TV, the Leaf race car was given an outing in the Adelaide V8 race series opening event last weekend.

I saw that race on telly last weekend, the leaf just won over the GT-R after a few seconds handicap and smashed the Nissan V8 race car after several seconds handicap, but typical of petrol heads to laugh that they got beaten by an electric car, would like to see more of ice V electric, they can re-fuel while the EV can do battery swap-outs

from link;
The LEAF NISMO RC adds to Nissan's catalogue of electric energy-powered racecars, which includes the recently launched Nissan ZEOD RC – the car that will break new ground at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year. The ZEOD RC's power plant will include the unique combination of a 1.5-liter internal combustion engine that boasts 400 horsepower, despite only weighing 40 kilograms, alongside its electric powerplant.

This is the race i watched

Perhaps the Queen of Australia should propose a test. Take two convicted criminals (convicted to die somewhere or other for some truely nefarious and despicable crimes). Run down one with the Nissan, the other with any fossil fueled vehicle the crowd wishes.

Proving once and for all the vehicles are fairly matched (hopefully).

First, there is nothing worth killing over, without the system passing such a judgement being equally if more deserving of the same fate.

I have amazing and enlightening news for you my friend. Even though they are heavy with 4 wheels and certainly capable of great harm to anything they hit, no vehicle in my ownership other than a pedal-power-only Mt. Bike has ever hit or killed any living things besides bugs (the Mt. Bike sadly killed a squirrel on a sidewalk).

You will find most objects over about 10lbs or so with kinetic energy can pretty easily take life, from a falling coconut to a wave from the ocean or the computer you're typing on if it were dropped onto someone in the right setting.

Nobody rational will argue you that physical objects striking bodies can/does do gross gnarly harms.

The beautiful news I have for you my friend is that it's not a requirement for objects to impact and harm living things. Most do not, and some even get used for human experience enhancing functions while causing no harms. :)

I enjoy your strong desire to make changes that avoid death/harms to living things. Perhaps the efforts could be better directed at improving the greater harm-causing life-style choices like poor diet, smoking cigarettes etc.

Hey Master LFP! Thanks for speaking (writing) up! I suspect you have waaay better stuff to do rather than to humble us bilge rats w/your presence/contributions!

Re: killing others (human animals), according to one theory there may be waay too much sex going on, watt sometimes might quirt out "children", such that here on Planet Dirt (sp?) there may now be too many human-style animals staggering around. More than at any time before today.

I dunno, but if maybe "death" were more of an option as a "penalty for bad behaviour", especially in the pubic (sp?) domain eg in "transportation", the future might be a waaay better place? That perhaps thinking might be more closely linked to operating any vehicle?

The "problem" I have maybe with "harm-causing life-style choices" is maybe the harm that might be done to innocent others. (Well, at least, "innocent" of the activity you are currently engaged in, whether they are "doing it" themselves at the same time or not. Hehe...

L

PS... And death aside, maybe we might consider more tasty treats for Dog Meisters four-legged friends.

Looks to me that the number 1 cause of early death there is diet.

Yah. There's an ugly rumour going around... Next years cars might have larger doors, just so some drivers and passengers can access/egress the vehicle. :(

Yep ! ..Nature at work . ..controlling itself.
Survival of the fittest ..literally !
That was exactly my point! Why waste 1 second on self inflicted harm? Someone wants to kill themselves then go for it. Lockh is right though that the real issue is these dead beat ability to harm others when they dont even value their own lives.

Back on topic. Im surprised that leaf was only 7seconds a lap slower then the gtr. Thats a huge plus for ev's given its claimed 80kws of power.
