Programming a no-name controller sold with a Bafang/Varstrom conversion kit?

Hello! I got a Varstrom/Bafang front wheel conversion kit from Aliexpress. I want to customize throttle mode and pedal assist settings, but none of the tools for configuring Bafang controllers (BafangConfigTool, SPEEED, etc.) work on it, and STC-ISP doesn't recognize it. (And yes, I have confirmed that my USB interface dongle works.) Searching the model number, AKSM48500-39, doesn't turn up anything useful. There's one other thread on this forum about this particular controller, but a conclusion was not reached. Does anyone know if there's a way to customize the settings on this controller or change its firmware?
