Recommendations for mirrors?

100_0310.JPG

I have one of these on my old A2B. It's a moped mirror. Maybe 8"tall. It works reasonably well. I don't remember where I got it, but I think it was off eBay. Search "moped mirror".

Two years ago I was hit from behind and nearly killed. It was two months until I could walk and six months before I tried to ride a bike again. I’m still working on getting past the PTSD and being able to ride on roads again. I completely lost the hearing in my right ear and now wear a set of hearing aides with the right aid transmitting the sound on that side to my left ear. The result is I can hear things but have no idea what direction the sound is coming from.
I use a sturdy all aluminum bar end mirror and a Garmin Varia rear facing radar unit. I’ve had no luck with any of the mirrors with stems or risers. They simply will never stay in adjustment and are worse than not having a mirror at all. As far as I’m concerned the radar unit is the best bike accessory ever. It has never failed to let me know that there is traffic behind me and a good mirror lets me see what is there.
Even with all that I always turn and look before entering a traffic lane.

The geometry on your bike is probably different. Maybe your handlebars are set higher sort of like a dutch bike.
Maybe but probably not that different.

This is my current main ride:

How did you get those to mount?

Usually you can use one of the types of clamps I posted previously.

Don't know what specifically Fechter used.

Make sure to pay attention to whether your new mirror has 8mm or 10mm threads. Those handlebar mounts come in both sizes, and if you get the wrong size, there are adapters, but it's cheaper to just get the right size. I'm using one of those mounts as the anchor for one of my torque arms, LOL. Two for about $6.

The A2B came with threaded holes on the brake lever mounts. If you don't have these, they make a bar clamp with a threaded hole.

Anybody have a good recommendation for the mounts? Maybe like this but just stainless steel?

What's zinc alloy mean?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/313718787437?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=5jbv95hzstg&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=XkT10NRIQIe&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

I had the same mounts but the bolts stripped and it sucked and was weak and flimsy

To end this thread, I finally bought these

https://www.ebay.com/itm/143242110477?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=mOXbSXW7S1y&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=XkT10NRIQIe&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Because they can pretty much accept any motorcycle mirror and they have 10 mm. Adapters. They are quite flimsy but I didn't find a steel version. So I bought the cheapest China I could.

I actually had these snap when my 120lb bike fell on the mirror ( dropped). But whatever I can buy these and keep using my current mirrors for now.

I wound up finding a mirror set for $30 that had a 10 inch stem but for now I can recycle what I have. I'm cutting into my emergency funds buying bicycle parts and tools at this point. Just gotta suffer for now I suppose
