Ridstar E26 pro review and opinions

Possibly you can get help with your display since there are some really astute individuals here if the company doesn't respond. However, don't be surprised if your battery starts losing charge faster because "second-grade" cells aren't unusual with some of these companies.

Thanks the display is showing all info all the time in overlayed form leaving it all totally unreadable. It also has a weird green looking splotch in the display when it's off now. It's been an ongoing problem for several months but I haven't been able to ride due to health issues so I wasn't able to get proof until yesterday. In the past they have always gotten back to me within hours, now that I have the proof they requested not one word in response! Hopefully I'll hear something by tomorrow if not I'll contact Ebay. The bike has a year warranty which runs out in a little over a month. I did buy the two year insurance plan through ebay so one way or another it should be covered. The bike has been great and customer service has been as well until now. It only has 600 odd miles last I could read the display so I'm sure it's still under 700 but starting to get close to 700 total miles! Way to few miles for actual problems that aren't covered by the warranty!

It took 5 solid hours to recharge so my battery was way lower than it had any right to be after less than 15 miles total. 21AH battery 3 amp charger takes roughly 7 hours to fully recharge. I am not 100% sure but I am 99% sure this is the longest I've ever charged my battery. I don't like it getting below 30% and have never let it until this happened!

Na batteries fine. I did learn several things today on my 25 mile ride. One the rear tire was down to ten psi and I think that may be where my mileage went. I hadn't put air in it since last year, it's back up to 15psi now where I usually try and keep it. It sure rode smoother with 10psi. Found out of I get close up to the display and way way off to the left I can read it. After my ride of 25 miles I had exactly half charge left or 47.4 volts. I did not have the trailer with me today. Turns out I've put a few more miles on than I had realized, 764 miles after todays ride. Dang bike is a pure joy to ride! Once I get it up to 2400 miles I figure I'll call it paid for! LMAO So I'm almost 1/3 there. hahaha

You want more miles put 3 inch wide tires on and pump them up to 35 psi you will also be surprised by how much better the bike handles.

Thanks but I love my 26x4 tires and will take comfort over a few more miles! My old broken body needs all the cushion it can get at this stage in life! lol Speaking of tires I already bought a set of 26x4 Ultraverse to replace the chow yang's that came on it once they wear out. I just hope I don't miss the side lugs these tires have they come in quite handy with the terrain here.

Added a 48V 26AH battery to my 48V 23AH OEM battery on my bike yesterday. Flat out the best upgrade I've done yet! Started out today with 53.8V rode 36 miles and still had 50 volts when I got home. Plus the bike gained a couple miles per hour on the top end. I'm not sure how much as I was running from dogs both times I kicked it but when I went to slow back down I was still gaining speed while doing 36mph my normal top speed is right at 33mph unless fresh off the charger then it hit 35 once. Today I had already ridden 30 miles before the dogs and normally I might have gotten 32-33mph but I've never seen my bike hit 36mph and it was still gaining speed. I had already left the dogs behind so I had no need to see if it went any faster.

Also put another set of Rockbro's panniers on my front rack. Now I've got a pair of Rockbro's 32L bags on the rear rack and 27L on the front rack along with the new battery mounted on top of the front rack right over the tire. Which helps slow down front wheel spinout unless you gag it. Which I did once on pavement getting the jump on traffic and left about 5-8 feet of rubber on the road from the front tire. I did get out in front of all ten of the cars though and was able to make my turn safely.

Got another 40 miles on the bike today at 18mph and had 48.1V or just over 1/2 charge left when I got home. Every cow I passed ran stampede style from the bike, no idea why they are so frightened of E-bikes. Saw some incredible country and some interesting old log cabins and farm houses. Also saw several beautiful horses, thankfully they are not scared of the E-bike. Had to haul ass from dogs 3 or 4 times too!

All in all it was another great day to be on the bike.

I've left both batteries on the bike the last two nights and just charged them as one via the bikes wiring harness using my power supply. Still charging them at 3 amps or 1.5 amps each which is slow but since I am in no hurry at night and slow charges let batteries live longer. There will be other times when I'm charging fast as possible so it'll even out one day.

The front end behaves much better on these steep gravel roads but it could still use a little more weight over the front tire. I'm still breaking traction on the real steep gravel roads. Oh and wash boards SUCK on an E-bike!

Decided I really need to order one of those lite weight backpacking chairs to keep on the bike so I have a place to sit when I take breaks. I probably stop and take short breaks every half hour to hour and a comfortable place to sit would be sweet!

I'm going to have to start packing meals as my rides get longer too and maybe a way to cook or heat food at the least.

One other thing I've recently learned is I do NOT like going down loose gravel hills at speeds over 25mph max and 10 is much more reasonable in a lot of these places, especially where there are washboards! I really need to see about making my bike have EBS or regen braking.

I will probably hit or cross 1,000 miles on my next ride, 988 miles on the bike now. Which amazes me. When I bought it I figured if I put at least 1,200 miles on it I could consider it paid for itself at a dollar a mile. Everything after that would be gravy. Then I got to thinking about all the extras and things I've changed or improved and decided I need to cover all those dollars spent too which means I need to go over 2,000 miles before I can consider it paid for itself!
Worth every cent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you're charging at night, I hope the system is in a safe place (where you would survive a fire).

On my ride today I noticed the batteries were acting strangely. Just now I found out why or at least I think I did. One of these XT 60 parallel connectors from Amazon broke. Crappy workmanship hardly any solder no wire not much of anything. Kinda scary to have all that current going through a tiny (maybe 22ga) spot of solder to be honest!

The exact kind of attention to detail in construction/design i expect from a bike like this.

I believe some of these ridstars were recently recalled by the CPSC because they had a lot of instances of the front wheel detatching.
Hope you are running an aftermarket fork on it.
