Completed first ebike build but possibly having overheating issues with varstrom geared hub kit

Bbshd is only 30 amps your hub is 80 volts and 80 amps not something to compare to a low voltage mid drive.

why? I believe even the op has the freedom to choose the equipment for the job. The geared hub isn’t it since it can’t shed heat. BBSHD is capable, as long as you’re ok going 10mph up a steeper hill. It’s the right choice, if that’s what you want. The speed at which you climb is directly related to the power you’re using, so if you want to climb faster, then you choose different equipment. It’s not even a hub vs mid drive thing. If you want a bike to perform more like a pedal bike, then slowing way down got a hill makes a lot of sense, if that’s what you want from an ebike. I’m not sure that’s what the op wants though.

... I'll adjust, just like car or motorcycle, to maintain my speed. (I can't recall the last time I had to shift my truck to low and slow down while driving on the freeway up a mountain pass. I just step on the gas a little.)

I have 300k miles on motorcycles... I always thought I'd be riding again after the kids were out of the house, but it never happened.

Well you're not dead yet, one day you may return to the fold perhaps. Perhaps that's why I ride my ebike like a pushbike and not a motorbike, I see them as completely different, not just an electric version of. I've ridden MC all my life but pushbikes for only 25 years or so and I won't ever be chasing high power on them. Once years back when I only ever owned one MC at a time I went to switch from an 1100 to that excellent Honda VFR 800. I loved everything about it, until I took it up a freeway on-ramp on the test ride. It Lacked the power I was used to, it seemed... too tame? The rr I regularly ride now has 200HP packed into 200kg, that's 150kW and 100mph in first gear with no overheating or spoke issues lol. Anything I could build into a bicycle would be a snail on a leaf compared to that, so why bother is my thinking. I'm just talking personally, for Me this is! I know how sensitive others can be about such talk and take it personally. It has nothing to do about how other people want to ride etc. What was your last MC anyway E-HP?
