Got a quote back from Evva technology for LG 18650HE2 . Ends up being $3.85 each buying per 100 and $90 freight to Australia. Also got a quote for the samsung 25r's and they're $3.95 per unit.

What do yas think?

Looks like a great price, I checked out that Evva on alibaba and they look truly solid company. They got Gold supplier certificate which means there offices have been visually inspected by alibaba officials.
They also do things in proper alibaba style with 100min order on everything and they don't sell/list tons of baloney batteries like ultra fire and trust fire, in fact I couldn't find a single trust-fire or ultra-fire cell on their site, that makes me almost want to crack a boner.
Looks like a slam dunk.

Hey guys sorry I have not come back with all of the testing for the 25R cells I honestly forgot about this thread I made. My lyen controller was inspected by lyen and i blew two mosfets and fried the circuit board . Once the controller is back I will first make sure not to do the same stupid mistake ( messing with the throttle wiring while everything is hot and ready to run). Secondly i will do some real testing with my cycle analyst on the 25R cells. Just as a side note i had charged the 25R battery pack to 3.96v around two months ago before blowing my controller and just checked today and guess what they are still at 3.96v per cell


In regards to Alibaba I would stay FAR away from any new companies offering these cells. You should only trust sellers that we have confirmed are legit in the past. You don't want to loose your money just to see if a company is legit or not. Stick with the trusted sellers and you wont be sorry later!

I think River Rat is in Austrailia, per his post about shipping cost. Speaking of that, you are missing the cost of tab welding and spacers. River Rat's post seems to be bare cells.

Doesn't actually have great high discharge support against voltage sag but it does still pack a pretty good punch in total Ah capacity.

It is a great choice for EV, same power as panasonic pf, but higher capacity. Only thing that is unknown is cycle life, maybe it is poor? And of course price, it shouldn't be high.

Looks like my 25R still has better discharge for the first half..then it evens out... with the LG beating it at the end due to higher capacity. Not bad at all. Interesting how the 25R does worse at lower C.

Looks like I'll give these cells a shot when I do a new pack build in the future. I'm tired of building batteries.

No, BD is not 10A rated, BE is 10 A rated. MH1 and panasonic BE should be equivalents. But I don't know or can't find info about those cells, like which chemistry, and cycle life.

I have not tried more than 0.3mm thick, But manufacture tells it is able to weld up top 2.6mm (what i doubt)
but up to 1mm thick I believe it would not be a problem, as i use only ~1,5 setting from max 10 available

Hey gents, I am thinking about picking up one of these spot welders. If I can become proficient at it, I might run a bi-monthly battery build weekend for local Texas guys to gather expertise to help eachother and also to use the welder and glue gun assembly line.

Couple questions:
1) I presume this is 220v. Can I really just wire this up to a clothes dryer plug and plug it in in the laundry room? If so, I also have that same type of plug outside for my travel trailer.
2) Are there any wear parts I should be extras of? e.g. where can I find extra tips for the welder contacts?
3) Anyone have a local U.S. source for the .3mm thick nickel strips that Andrey has suggested?
4) Anything else I should be concerned about before ordering one on Taobao? I don't read Chinese so I'll have to get my cousin (who does read Chinese) to help me order.

Ok, I have tried to buy the DN-10 spot welder through 2 different sources and both were unsuccessful. After much back and forth, the ultimate shipping charge was close to $400 on a $530 spot welder! The DN-10 weighs about 24KG (26KG with packaging). It is very heavy and therefore very expensive to ship. So... Now I am back to the U.S. ebay option that have shipping included. Neither of them seem as good as the DN-10 but if it will do the job for 0.3mm strips, that is all we need.

Anyone have any experience or thoughts on these 2 options?

KeepPower definitely legit. My favorite battery supplier for my flashlight business. Each pair comes in a plastic clamshell case, inside a foam-lined cardboard box.

hundreds so far, in various sizes: 16650, 14500, 18500, 16340, 18650, 26650, etc. yes properly declared and documented as hazardous material. and properly packaged

unlike those who rewrap with fake "nimh" labels to avoid shipping restrictions

After reconsidering many times I am preparing to spend some $$ on cells.

Current plan is to build 22s9p of either Samsung 25r, LG HE2 or Sony VTC5. I figure this should result in ~1.5kwh of useful energy without having to push the cells too hard. Any other cells I should be considering that are actually available/semi affordable? Target is 140a peak draw @ 22s, so ~12kw. As such I can't really use any of the larger capacity cells as I don't think any of them are going to handle 15a cell level discharges very well.

I've asked supowerbattery for some pricing on pre-terminated 9p strips, we'll see what they come back with. Any other suppliers that are not recommended on Alibaba? I'll ask for pricing from a few of the highest rated vendors for each battery, though I'm guessing they're not going to be able to spot weld them for me. If the price difference is large enough it may be worth buying/building my own spot welder.
