So. Currently only about $115 US??? HUH???

"provides an output of 150 watts, and will only add drive between 7 and 25 km/h"

"The "engine" weighs in at 1102g"

Only a working prototype at the moment. Semcon, which is looking for investors, states that the prototype cost approximately €100 to produce, but that "if put into series production, the cost will of course have the potential to be reduced further. The ambition with this engine is to make it easy, affordable and attractive for any biker to turn their bike into an electrified bike".

The firm does state that it's designed to help as many users as possible, and that most bike journeys aren't that long – in Sweden, 2.8km according to Semcon.

GAS2 is bridging the gap between gear heads and green heads, with news and stories that emphasize the best parts of ultra-efficient transportation technology while helping the world come to terms with its crippling addiction to oil. Gas2 is unlike any other car blog out there — enjoy!

So. EVen a "car" blog chimes in... "Innovative Electric Motor Fits Any Bicycle, Costs Under $150":

This is a step in the right direction. Just make the battery terminal connectors compatible with 3rd party battery packs and/or sell them separately.
