I am looking for a steel rear hub, I spotted a front steel hub, but no rear hub at 135mm, got any ideas?

Found a steel hub, but the width is only 126mm...http://www.niagaracycle.com/categor...-126mm-5-6sp?gclid=CIW9hPDow80CFY9hfgodWBQPXg

Do you think it is possible to add a longer axle to these narrow hubs to make them wide enough for a 7 speed freewheel and fit a 135mm frame???

Yes, you can add a longer axle and more spacers to bring a narrower hub to 135mm. It's very easy.

Do you need a steel hub so you can weld into it? That's about the only reason I'd use one.

Thick steel spokes into alloy at either end.. with enough weight and stress could cause flange failure? Thats a guess, I've beaten alloy hubs/rims to hell and the rim usually fails first (yes, with both loads, abuse or both).

I've never broken a flange on anything, aluminum, steel, whatever, and y'all've seen the stuff I ride and haul around.

Spokes, rims, tires, occasionally the bearing cups in the hubs, even axles, but never flanges.
