Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Here is a not so smart way to carry the bikes 500 miles. I always wondered what would happen if I locked the brakes at 60 mph.

The sur-ron looks like a fun bike, but is it an "american" adult size?

Could taller persons ride the Sur-ron?

Are there any pictures of someone over 6'-3" riding or sitting on one?

I'm only 6'-0" but this should give you an idea. The bike is small compared to a full sized motorcycle but I don't find it uncomfortable (except for the padding in the seat).

Hard to tell by the photo, but is that freaking elephant big marihuana plant behind you? 420 lifestyle?

May not be maximum ideal, but hey, it gets you to the trail head destination.

Ha! wouldn't that be nice... Just bamboo.

Mkey my eyes or my screen need adjustments. I just saw that big bush and some suspicious leafs then I realized your localized in California so I was sure the liberal state of california wouldn't care if you keep a 10 foot bush on your front porch. Hard to keep up with legalization issue, as more and more places legalizes it in one form or another. 420 bro

What I wonder is how did you get the bikes up there? Even if you remove the battery isn't it still too heavy to lift it on the roof?

I wouldn't try by myself, but seeing how there are two up there, he likely had a hand getting them up there. Lifting 40 pounds over the head isn't an insane weight.

This is true, 2 guys, even unconditioned and unfit, could probably lift the weight of a 4 year old kid above their heads.

It appears that @Aebrennan's shop https://www.aebikes.com.au/spare-parts.html has them in-stock, and I have read here that he ships them to other countries.

I think to order direct from outside China you will need a 3rd party agent (which of course will not be a free service).

Edit: On further thought, it appears you would like to order the whole bike, not just the X Controller. @Aebrennan claims a limited number will be available Sept 7th: https://www.aebikes.com.au/index.html

I'm getting the seat reupholstered (bony old arse) so I got it off, but it did reveal a small plug not connected to anything tucked under the seat. LH side of the picture resting on the seat rail and front seat mount. Anyone know what its for?

I think it's for the GPS module on the X version. I can't find it, but I remember a picture of of it under the seat.

Correct. I have read of reports that some people even received a GPS, but as I understand it, they will only work in China.

So I got my first flat (after almost 700 miles). It was my fault too - last time I filled my tire it was to ~12psi and that was like a month ago. Should have checked the pressure at least once a week. I am guessing it probably got down to ~8psi and tore the stem off when I goosed the throttle.

I plan to check my pressure more often, but also thinking it would be good to install a rim-lock. Not sure what size to get?

This one comes in three sizes: 1.6 inches, 1.85 inches and 2.15 inches.

I am running Bridgestone M403s.

Also, will I need to counter weight it? Should I just install two at opposing sides so it is balanced and has twice the grip?

I appreciate all advice, thanks!

The boat arrives tomorrow, and we expect to start sending out the pre- orders on Tuesday.
We will be able to confirm the differences then.
We were specifically asked not to talk about the X bike on the forum by the factory.

That seems a bit strange. Maybe it's not really ready for prime time yet.

Maybe because then nobody wants to buy the current model anymore and they can't get rid of the "old" stock as everyone wants an X version?

I think it's more like dealer outside China not wanting the X version to be mentioned.

The X version is like 1000RMB more expensive compared to the old version in China, with better brake, seat, chain, new fork, motor and the X controller itself which some dealer sell it like 500$(3400+RMB), so I figure it's not sur-ron who ask the dealer to shut up, but rather the dealer themselves. That plug goes to a GPS, but customer overseas can't use that. Sur-ron actually got an APP for light-bee, since they label themselves have some kind of Internet blood, but they be smart enough to remove that outside china

Yesterday was light bee's one-year anniversary, sur-ron hold a photo-gallery event, if you guys interested, you can email your best photo with light bee to this email address: jinyi@qiulongtech.com Winner will get a light bee, good luck!

Please put me down for one. I was able to get my dualtron ultra which was around the same weight shipped from Korea via DHL to my Airport for around $700, so this should be just as easy for them. Sadly I weight a lot more than this bike and on a good day I can fly round trip to aussie for $1000 . I wish shipping wasn't as expensive as it is

That is what I am thinking also. I think they don't want to screw over the current dealers who need to sell their current stock.

I wonder if Luna would even consider buying the old stock bikes at this point if they were going to place another order. That would be kind of dumb to do considering they know everyone is going to want the X-Version with the better controller. That is why we must all do our duty and demand Luna get the X-Version.

I wonder if Sur-Ron is even making the old bikes or are just going forward with the new X version now. Would make sense for them to scrap the old bike at this point and only build the new model bike.

Could someone do me a super big favor.

If you have the original box that your Sur-Ron came in. Would you be able to give me the exact dimensions of the box.

Thank you so much.

I contacted them shortly after the X Model was announced (4 months ago) and when they only had a few bikes left in stock. Their response was:

Sorry we cannot comment on unreleased products that may or may not be part of in the upcoming lineup.

I replied:

I personally don’t see what you would have to loose by taking my pre-order for it, as it could fit in your next shipping container whether or not you will be offering the new model.

But no dice, and when they depleted their stock, they ordered another batch of the non-X Model bikes. Good luck with your demands - in my experience Luna does as Luna likes - everyone else can piss off.
