I find the whole thing confusing when looking for my first E-bike rear hub motor. Like most people I am looking for a good quality hub motor that will not cost an arm and a leg. Quality is very important and cost of shipment to Australia as well. There are so many brands to choose from it mind blowing. Please tell me the top 5 rear hub motor to buy for Australian E-bikers. I already have a very good mountain bike to transform in to an E-bike. So fare with the research I have done 48 volts would be about wright. Speed is not that impotent. Please make comments and ask any questions

If your in melbourne you might want to message winkinatcha, he is pretty friendly and sells AU standard compatible kits that I believe are also upgradable to faster wattage if you feel inclined later on. I think he uses a higher wattage controller and motor turned down to just run at 250w so it's all legal.

http://www.emtb.com.au/ is pretty good there located in melbourne. They stock the nine continents hub motors and controllers. I just ordered a 9x7 from them (last night in fact) and john was fantastic to deal with and very prompt. It was $280 for the 9x7 plus shipping which he only charged me half price for. Would recommend again.

I am defiantly after a hub motor that is not that is not legal. 200 to 250 w i may as wall walk. I have seen some post talk about cell-man are his hub motors OK and durable. Also about battery's i was thinking about Hobby King lipo packs put in together. Is there any thing better to us as a battery power source. 48 volts was about what i was thinking.

Hi i am also from Melbourne and am looking at an ebike project using a 700C front wheel maybe on a CRX4 with hobbyking lipo batteries and esc
I wanted a planetary hub so it is lightweight and freewheels easily

I came across this from golden motor, is this ok for $78 (not sure about shipping?)
Model: MBG36F -- Mini Front Motor
24V/36V (brushless/gear/freewheel)
Power Rate:250W
Weight: 2.6 Kgs

How about these bafang motor/front wheel combos ?

I assume the small bafang hubs are geared types ?

im running an ezee geared hub motor and 20A controller kit.

supplied and installed by glowworm bicycles in Sydney.

in a 20"wheel, i can get 35km/h. in a 700C or 26" the speed would be increased slightly.
not legal here in oz (550W at 48V if i remember correctly) 400W at 36V.

ive done over 4000km total and not had any major issues with motor / controller.
im running 12S lipo (from hobbyking).

The ezee is good. Big size up front tho - which suits some folks. I like it on my pub bike.

Or if you want a lighter version with a little less torque, and a bottle battery that is plug and play, buy my spare kit I have for sale under brand new things for sale! Surprisingly peppy for such a small front motor.

Shipping from Ballarat overnight. You'd pay more than a grand for the same kit thru solarbike or similar.

Cheers.

Do you know if the nine continents hub motors are conducive to fitting on the rear with a disc brake set up.Some hub motors are hard to fit disc brakes easily. I had a look at the emtb web site and all looks good they are defiantly in the mix. But i would like at least three to choose from.

Yes. They have a 6 hole bolt pattern for a disc. just received mine. the quality of the motor looks ok, the rim, spokes and wires are 5 out of 10 will post pictures soon.

The eZee hub motor case takes a disc rotor. The eZee bikes come with 180mm diameter rotors but you can fit 203mm.

Get a nine continent or mxus clone. Can't go wrong. I'm on my 3rd (sold off the last ones) Best bang for buck motors. Get in touch with either of those 3 guys mentioned above and they will sort you out

i;m new myself to ebikes. i got a tern folder and ordered a kit from cellman last week
mac front motor kit and 50v 22ah battery.
from looking around here and mailing cellman i was happy with what he sells so far.
i was like you early on so much info to sort through to find some quality gear.
