Upgrading discs to 203 mm - worth it?

Well, larger rotors, floating or solid, are meant to be used with larger calipers that have twice the pad surface. The Hope 225 mm that I use, were made for their M6 caliper that is huge. All together, a properly matched and set bigger brake combination, is making a better brake. And yes of course, the purpose is to make them run cooler.

Disc brakes by themselves are a problem for many, because they are not informed of their proper setting and maintenance. I have seen some riding mismatched brake sets, cleaning them with spray lube, continue riding them badly offset, with worn out pads, air in lines... The OP was in this situation, and had to find out why his brake wasn’t giving good service. The first solution idea is often using bigger, when only servicing is required.
