Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

need help encouragement to grind the wheel ... if the wheel is held by hand, the wheel does not Rotate https://youtu.be/2CaB_gavE8Q
 
-If a motor is running poorly, post a youtube video of it running poorly. With sound.

Go from zero to full throttle. Lower phase current to 30A before you do this. Are motor phase cables matched correctly to controller A,B,C or U, V, W phase connections?

Where did you buy Em200 ?? I have been in contact with Carrie... And she told me that they dont have any Em200 and Em300 before spring ??
 
There’s a unique program for the CAN versions of the controller. If i remember correctly the plug looks the same, 4-pin connector. It’s shown in the diagrams for the CAN controller.

Please start a Votol em200 thread to avoid confusion in this one. :wink:

Thanks, will try to search cause for now - no success to connect (using CAN software and standard cable, "blue" usb)

So you bought it through Carrie , 3-4 month ago ?? And it just showed up now ??

Not Directly from Carrie, have local supplier. And it's just arrived =(
I will post pictures in separate thread a bit later
 
Need advice regarding EM-150 CAN.

For now there is an issue that controller doesn't rotate a motor.
Cables are ok, connection wires too, just changed my regular EM-150 with this one and nothing =(

in config software I've see some strange things, the values of throttle voltage config are weird and changes by themselves:

I've tried to change them but changes hasn't been saved.

What should I look next?
 
I can only guess since i haven’t used em200 controller. In my controller throttle setting doesn’t work so this issue is not unique.

What is the funcionality in program:
Do the readouts work? (Controller has contact)
Is rpm shown if you turn wheel by hand? (Halls are working then)
Do you have any fault code?
Is there some status reported that would stop driving like sidestand or brake activated?
Did you set hall shift?

it's not 200, it's EM150 CAN =)
RPM is shown when rotating wheel, no fault code, "parking" is not enabled and halls are configured....

Then my guess would be throttle. Could there be an issue in connection, damaged wires or loose pins on controller? Could you upload all settings screens?

Can you disconnect everything but phases, halls, battery and throttle and try again?

Tried 2 different throttles, and disconnected everything unnecessary.
The thing is that another controller (without CAN) works ok with same wiring.
Maybe CAN version have different wiring?

Hey Andrii. I had a similar issue with a non-CAN version. Anyway, in my case there was some magic related with hall angle value and/or sport mode input. I'm not quite sure what eventually helped - it just started to work at some point. I tried every version of the app, disconnected sport mode pin, checked out the hall shift from -180 to 180. Sorry for not being more precise. I can confirm the problem, though.

Btw I'd also try a different software version - it looks like it wasn't "compatible" with the controller. "Start setting" values look bogus. In my case the default was: 1 1 220 80.
 
Ok, saw video now. Pretty sure that hall sensors are unmatched to the phases

Check hall wires, do colors on controller and motor connector match?
Are you sure phase connections are matched?
What is your hall shift setting? (Is it the same as previous working setup?)
 
I am connecting via CAN, and using the software from this link (Carrie from QS gave that link) http://www.siaecosys.com/list/?classid=102

I can set my throttle voltage without problems, and the values are stored. Are you using a standard 5k potentiometer ? I do, so when I give full thottle I put out 5v, which I type in in the software. Looks like your max i 3.86v, so when you exceed that, the controller goes in fail..... Did you remember to check "Can connection" when you are connecting ? On your second picture your max voltage is only 0.06v, then it make sense why it goes in fail. Or it is your hall sensors, like larsb is saying, or your 3 motor phases is not in the right order relative to the 3 hall sensors.


Just to be sure. Are you having 2 votol em-150, you are switching between, and one Em-200 ?? Or is your one em-150 just starting to not working anymore ??

Yep, I have 2 Votol EM-150 controllers, but one is with "CAN", and I don't have stock wires from it

so, plans for tomorrow - check hall shift, get confirmation that the wires are the same, make it go))))

one big observation regarding wiring:
- green/white should be high gear, but it turns low speed
- brown/white shoud be P gear, but it's Reverse

[OFFTOP] BTW, those are stock wires from EM-150p (left side) and EM-150S (right side)

I think normal setting for the qs motor is 60 degrees, can’t remember +/- but you’ll have it set correctly in your other controller :wink:

Phase setting sweep shouldn’t be necessary If phases are correctly connected but if you do it then lower bus bar and phase current to 30A before to save motor and controller from bursting or faulting.
 
A bit update, sad to say but today I've got same issue on my old controller =(
wonder if CAN-votol might blow halls in motor....
 
Since it reads rpm halls are working.

Question is what’s changed? I’d guess it’s an issue with the wiring caused by assembly/disassembly.

I'm experiencing quite a similar problem now. Last night I switched to a different controller (apt) to see how it revs at 600a. But there is some hall-related magic happening. Can't make it work at the moment. The hall angle shift I had configured before would not spin the motor anymore. Nothing changed in the wiring. Will look into it later.

Edit: I mean it does not spin when I switched back to votol (old settings, old wiring).
 
So the Votol doesn’t work anymore? Or didn’t you get it working with the APT

That probably is because wiring needs to be matched for both phases and halls and different controllers might have different color coding (it happens a lot!) and they might also define hall shift differently so tha x degrees=y degrees between two controllers.
