Aloha!

Over the last 20 years of building and riding bikes, Endless Sphere has provided endless guidance, hoping y'all can give me a shortcut now.

A friend was given a Waveelectricbikes.com bike from a friend and the battery requires replacing. Thus far, I have not been able to figure out if the battery is available and matching any others that can be purchased outright or if I need to replace the cells myself.

Let me know if there is an easy solve before I bust the pack open!

Is it a 36v or the 48v. Does the controller have communication with the battery?
If there is no communication and a rack mount, then a replacement should be ok. You can change the connections to match the controller. Just make sure the voltage is the same.

I see a couple of batteries on their website. Which model of bike is it? It looks like the bikes currently shown are similar to the first RAD bikes where the components are more kit like than integrated (like a Specialized, or other factory bike). Hopefully the battery isn't proprietary and have anything that needs to communicate to the controller. What does the output connector look like?

What specifically is wrong with the battery that causes it to require replacement? (this will define what you have to do to fix it, if there is no direct replacement available).

What are the original battery specifications, so that a replacement can be found? That company sells multiple types of bikes, batteries, etc., so we can't tell from here what you've got or need.

Size, shape, (pics are helpful), connectors, switches, chemistry, capacity (Ah / Wh), Amps output capability (peak and continuous), Voltage (average and/or full-to-empty).

If battery electrical specs are not available, then the controller specifications (Amps required, voltage (average and/or HVC and LVC)). Then to figure out Ah required we'd need to know the user's purpose / riding style / terrain / etc., and range required, so we can guesstimate (such as with http://ebikes.ca/tools/simulator.html ) the Ah required for that range.

Thanks for checking in everybody - this is the battery that needs to be replaced:

The primary issue with replacing the battery is that the case, as far as I have found, is proprietary to the Wave bike. Here's the manufacturers blurb on the bike:
https://waveelectricbikes.com/product/wave-2-0/

The reason for replacing the battery is that the cells have been used continually for some time and have considerably less capacity than is needed. The connection from the battery to the controller is female socket IEC 320 C-13(ish). Rather standard.

The rear rack mount is built specifically for the rectangular enclosure and it would be nice to maintain that if someone is manufacturing replacements that can be found easily. I have built many battery packs and certainly go that route, but I'd prefer to save the time and energy since it is for a friend.

If the connector is just the battery output (no proprietary stuff), then you can get something like this, screw the mounting plate to the rack, and have 50% more range too.
