Will Tariffs come about and lead to higher priced ebike parts

Just imagine if someone had insider information of Trump's future actions and played the market.
Of course, no one in Trump's orbit would ever do something like that.
You could “imagine” the same for any flavor Administration..
( …Ever wondered how the Biden family became so wealthy..?)

There's a difference between being accused of corruption, and being convicted of corruption (and doing it in plain view). I wouldn't expect you to distinguish between the two, though.

Re: Chalo

I talk to business inside the financial world and outside, all day long as a business owner.
Not a single person i talk to is happy about the sudden legislative blitzkrieg.

I don't like it either.. i was just in the middle of panic buying things for my clients until i heard about the reversal. Now i'm trying to find out what countries are excluded.

Exactly. It's not like Trump himself has been found liable for fraud.

Just as a point of reference for those buying stuff from other countries. I recently ordered about $600 worth of stuff, and this is the breakdown of charges from UPS. Nearly $200, but only $77 was actual duties. They are certainly trying to squeeze every dollar where they can on brokerage charges. I love the $0.01 "other fee".

Just had the same thought yesterday. There must be an explanation to this decision chaos and unpredictability, and I'm afraid it might be a rational, deliberate operation. Beneficiaries should be possible to find (better do it before Securities and Exchange Commission is dissolved due to their inefficiency)

Maybe there should be a security lock built into the basic laws, or the Constitution itself - that any such decisions need a year to mature and become effective. It's not a minor daily adjustment, or an emergency requiring urgent reaction, China was there for thousands of years and they've been trading with the rest of the world for ages.

Received a $50 package from Grin today. There's a separate label on the box now for the customs nonsense. But no charges for the Orange Man tax.

It looks like lots of electronics./computers are getting exempted from these mega tariffs on China.
But i'm refusing to buy anything directly from China at the moment.

Received approx $600 of computer equipment from South Korea today, paid no tariff.
My guess is that de minimis is still in effect

So that's when de minimis goes away?

This may be true, but I favor that it is just the Mighty T-Rump spontaneously playing "big man" by throwing paper towels out to his people on the fly. Not so much planned as impulsive from his ego.

I don't know which is worse.

They say 'do not attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity', but i'd say it's not mutually exclusive and can actually be both.

Supposedly this figure went up to 245%. So imagine that TDZ2B costing as much as a CYC Photon.

Situation seems to be very fluid still:

Individually purchased BLDC MOTORS/controllers from CN likely will see increased prices.

The $800 exemption on tariffs is going to be removed. Everybody pays the duty.,

Looks like my timing was good 😅

I needed some 2 meter long Type K thermocouple probes and placed an order. Before the de minimus expired, it would have taken less than 2 weeks, free delivery via private courier. Now it will take 2 months for free shipping, most likely via USPS. When it arrives, I'll probably get a notice to come into the post office to pay the 145% tariff before they release the package.

There are faster paid shipping options. I don't know how DHL or UPS will collect the tariff. It must add delay.

When I saw the 2 months delivery, I cancelled the order, found some on Ebay shipped free from US that's lower price (last one).

This is for a torque sensor that I’ve been looking at.

Was $85 and now is $250. Guess I don’t really need this. (should’ve bought it sooner)
