Thanks for the help in advance.

My pedelec sensor is dead and I want to put in an on/off switch on the bars...I thought it would be two wires and there are 6 .. :0(

I can’t find a schematic.

Is it possible to just use a two wire switch?

If so..

which wires?

Thanks

Pretty impatient, not waiting even 30 minutes to bump your thread. :/

No.

You'll have to design and build a bit of electronics that emulates what your PAS unit did.

If it's a simple cadence sensor, that's easy--you just have to make something that outputs a series of pulses at the RPM you would be pedalling at, times the number of magnets on the magnet ring that's on the pedal chain ring.

If it's a torque sensor, or a quadrature cadence sensor, it's more complicated, and you'd need to know what the controller expects. Could still be done, but it's probably cheaper to buy another sensor.

However, it's probably not a bad sensor, it's probably just broken wires or corroded connector contacts.

Then you'll have to find out which kind of PAS sensor it is. Its' probably not labeleld, so you'll have to test it by meausring the signals out of it. You may need an oscilloscope (dual channel) and voltmeters, depending on the type.

THen you can design and build the right kind of electronics to emulate it.

Then you can use a simple switch to turn those electronics on and off.

Keep in mind: If the PAS previously did more than just on/off of power level / speed (meaning, full on or full off, vs some degree of control by how fast or hard you pedalled), then your switch will not fully emulate it. It will only be able to give you full power or full speed, or nothing.
