    Linux geeks thread

I know nothing about linux, but use a raspberry pi as a renderer for hi res audio. I use pre packaged software called moode, that I believe is debian based. Moodeaudio.org The pi has a cheapo hifiberry dac. I use Tidal to send audio to the pi. This is connected to my 70' Luxman amp and Boston...

    Copper strips instead of nickel?

I used copper strips and solder for pack building for the last 5 years. I bought copper sheeting and cut strips to size. My system was pretty low power, never more than 20 amps on 20 ah 44 volt battery. I live in rain forest climate in BC but did not let my batteries get wet. I never had...

    Delta trikes vs tadpole trikes

I have been riding an electric delta recombent for the last 7 years. I bought plans from Atomic Zombie. Before I built the delta I built a tadpole. The tadpole drawbacks are, lack of being seen and zig zag travel while pedaling. Both of these can be overcome, but I just didn't feel safe. The...

Building battery from MAKITA Konion PACK

Great to see you are still supporting us with these cells and the video on how to dismantle the packs. My pack is still working very well after 3 years. I have changed out a few cells, but no major problems. Looking forward to some of the newer cells. Thanks again!

    Recumbent trikes

I have been riding a home built recumbent delta trike for the last 4 years. I commute to work mostly on country roads. This design would not work well in a busy city. I use a front hub motor and can cruise at 40km an hour. The frame is an Atomic Zombie model. The fairing is custom skin on frame...

    OK, who rides a recumbent???

My wife rides Burley Koosah 36 volts ping pack and I ride a custom built delta recumbent with a 44 volt battery. The Koosah has 12,000 km and the delta has 14,500 km. We love e-cumbents.

    Longest commute

With an electrical motor, learning how to ride a two wheel bent is easy. I have two bents and do a 35km one way commute in about an hour. I have a fairing and tail box on them. This makes the ride much easier. Wind is the biggest problem I face as the ride is mostly flat. Good luck.

    Electra Mechanica Sparrow

Local auto builder plans to build Sparrow in BC. http://electrameccanica.com/about/ They are talking about building a factory in Abbotsford, my home town. Exciting news.....I may ask for a job sweeping the floors just to be there. At $20k and a $5k provincial incentive this just might make...

Testing relative IR of batteries for matching, feedback reqd

Hey ES'ers can you provide feedback on this testing process? Is this enough to group like cells? I am doing this on used Konion cells. 1 - Charge batteries to 4 v or so. 2 - Set charger to discharge to 3.5v at 2a (these can be varied) 3- Discharge battery until completed. 4 - Let batter sit...

    What do i wrong? @ 18650 Cells

I have been running DrBass Konions in a 14s 12p pack for 18 months. The key is the bleed down test for me. Once I discard the leakers I then do a discharge capacity test, match and solder. I charge to 4.1v and then discharge no more than 3.6v, they stay balanced pretty well with bulk charging...

    Thieves stealing copperFrom EV chargingStationsInVancouver

I work for a cable company in BC and for years our fibre cable was stolen by thieves hacking down copper phone cables. About a year ago the RCMP cracked down on the recyclers after CBC did an expose about selling scrap to the recyclers. Since then our cable theft has dropped 99%. Makes my life a...
