    Front or Rear Drive??

Got one of each ( so I did not reply to the poll ). First build was front wheel -- my thinking was simplicity of installation. That was 3,000 miles ago and no complaints except for jumping curbs. Second build was for my wife -- one consideration was the ability to take the bike on the Max (the...

    What about an Endless-sphere wiki?

This be a great idea. There is a wealth of great information here but it is not organized. There is also some not so good information, and lots of opinion -- and even more questions asked over and over. I'm a bit of a Wikipedian. My first edit was years ago when I spotted a hilariously...

Help me write the ES wiki https://endless-sphere.com/w

Ok, I'll help. It's a great idea! I've built 2 bikes and could not have done without ES. But it might have been a good deal easier to have a more concise resource, like a wiki. Just made two edits tonite. I've done a bit of work with Wikipedia so this is real familiar. To anyone wishing to...

    bike crash video

Dogman, I kindof winced when I read that right of way thing. It might be more proper to say something like "you might have the right of way, but don't assert it and don't expect the other fellow to yield just cause the law says so. Don't push your luck, in other words". Having said that, I've...

Whats a good meter thing to get??

Cycle analyst is a cool thing. If you wanna know what's going on electrically, they tell the story. Had mine for little less than a year, shoulda got one sooner. I find that monitoring the wattage, the voltage drop and comparing that to speed and road conditions helps you develop a good "feel"...

LiFePo4 Batteries: Care and Feeding For Beginners

Here is a candidate for yet another rule -- Don't drop it. My experience had to do with dumping a new Ping battery on the ground at 20mph. It was held onto the rack with a loose bungee chord. It survived, sortof. I got home, but all eight corners got rounded off when it hit the pavement and...

i want a bike that can do wheelies !

Whatever you do, don't put the motor on the front. That won't help you at all.

    bike helmet with face shield

I like the concept. Now that I've been riding an ebike with generally faster speeds than before, I've become more sensitive to little things like bugs in my teeth. But here's a story -- Once upon a time I was riding my favorite road bike at a good clip around dusk. Getting dark and going fast...

    Accident this morning

I wear a helmet all the time now although I've never really used one. Yet. I remember way back they would sell you these bicycle "helmets" that were nothing but strips of leather. Always thought that was a joke. Never had one until about 10 years ago I was riding through these woods down a hill...

Just took a header at 20mph: All's Well (nearly)

Ouch ouch. Oh man, I've done that. Twice. Never went for that inside pedal up business. That means coasting. Always like to power my way out of the steep turns. I once got clipon pedals (with that extra clearance) just to indulge that bad habit. Now with my ebike it's a different story. Glad...

which of these throttles to pick???

This is opinion of course... I have a thumb throttle, and like Dogman in some other thread, position it so that at full throttle, the thumb is in a natural grip position. The intended position for these things seems to be to have the idiot lights visible. In that position, the thumb is in an...

    nipples....nipples.....more nipples.... UGHHH!!!!

Hey biohazardman, I have that same problem and was thinking about the same solution. Could you say more about what kind of bit and procedure you used? I was thinking of a countersink bit, or I could grind a regular bit to try to match the angle on the nipples. The rim is from Wilderness Energy...

ebikes.ca phone saying "out of service" - anyone else gettin

Nothing wrong with the folks at Renaissance. Notice they publish store hours in their local time. Even then, they might be to busy to answer before the machine picks up. Be patient, keep trying. I had two pleasant phone conversations with those folks this afternoon.

Do the Girlie thing and use a bell...

Be careful with "on your left". It's fine with other bikes but folks who don't know the jargon might not respond the way you'd like. I've seen meandering pedesterranians spin around *to the left* in response and get right in the bike's path.

Changing a tire, is there a certain way tube should be?

And make sure the tire goes on the right way. My tires have a herringbone pattern. I put one on backwards once and was it ever noisy. Surprised me, never knew it would make a difference. I like that idea of aligning the label with the valve stem. Never thought of that.
