The thumb throttle supplied with my BBS01B kit required too much travel for full activation. This led me to angle it acutely upwards, which let in rain (UK) eventually killing it. There's no throttle on my bike anymore - not required because of how my BBS01B controller's firmware parameters have been programmed - but I do keep one of these push-forward throttles in my mobile toolkit for unforeseen emergencies. It clamps over the handlebar, so there's no need to pull things off to install it. I've replaced the securing hex bolt with a knurled thumscrew, for rapid tool-free deployment. Much less of a strain to use, also seems more waterproof.

p.s. The reason why my BBS01B doesn't need a throttle, is because the "Keep current" parameter in firmware is 100% of 18A at level 9, which is pretty much the only level I use - my bike is essentially a throttle-less 648W 20" wheeled moped activated by easy ghost pedalling. Legal in the UK, because the law doesn't say how many amps a 250W manufacturer rated motor's controller can draw.
