I am also very interested :love: on how this OSF works with EKD01, what can you set/change from the display?
Also, please, has anybody test walk assist and throttle? Because with the original firmware walk assist is very bad, and throttle start is not slowly increase but very fast from start. Thanks and huge thanks to @mstrens for the great and hard work!

The OSF for TSDZ8 is still under test. You can read the manuals provided by mbrusa about what you can set/change from the display. There are links to this documentation in the readme section here : GitHub - mstrens/OSF
Please note that only the 860C version (valid also for SW102) would allow to change nearly all parameters. This 860C version does not yet work (big bugs have been found at this stage) .

With the VLCD5 version, the walk assist works. Throttle starts slowly (a user claims even it was to slow).

I tested with ekd01 but unfortunately for now osf does not work as well as the original software/ or osf tsdz2, it is still in the testing phase as Mstrens writes and for now I would advise to wait. I am experimenting with diffrent settings/ displays because in case of failure I can repair it quite easily, if osf works comparable to the original software or better I will let you know.

The problem with 860 is that you have to flash it with custom firmware and then they have also changed something in newer batches which didn't work. Maybe it is a good time to reconsider the "default" best display? 860 looks like TV on your bike. EKD01 size is better but of course there is no custom firmware so can't put any custom settings. There was some DIY display project which was even wireless I think? With ESP32 for example it would be possible to have also Bluetooth connection and OTA updates but then there is additional work to assemble display etc so maybe a no-no? Something ready developer friendly would be nicer. I can jump in and help if needed :)
 
There is at least three versions of 860C display V12, V13 and v20 because @mbrusa has made firmware for those for TSDZ2.

Hey man 860C is not that big:). Not everybody young anymore. 860C display text is also visible to those who no longer have such good eyesight. And there is lot of information of motor.

well I am not the youngest either but I do not need to look at the display during ride almost ever. Maybe a speed sometimes just for fun? For setting and checking some details you can have a closer look while you stop or even have Bluetooth connectivity with your phone :) But yes 860C is not that bad actually, still kind of prefer ekd01. I would be glad with anything, just throwing suggestions to have a good decisions at the start ;) TSDZ2 was a success mostly due to OSF, TSDZ8 is not really a better motor, has a lot of perks from tsdz2 and some new ones. I do not know why they just don't improve stuff but look to release 10 more different motors :D

I also kindly ask @prozyc whenever he has time, to give us more details about what isn’t working with the EDK1.

I tested ekd01 only on osf set to xh18. Generally everything worked quite well except for the indication of the current engine power. I assume that even if you tried to set it e.g. on vlcd5/6 or 850c it would give the same error because it is not a dedicated software for ekd01. Just for information purposes I checked Ekd01 on the orginal software with an ammeter and the screen overstates the indicated engine power by about 25-30% compared to the actual power, i.e. if ekd01 shows 1000W then the actual power is about 700W
 
@prozyc but basically EKD01 which comes with the TSDZ8 is flashed with tonsheng firmware which reuses same protocol as other tonshengs displays so should work just fine? Was the power reported before in original firmware fine? How is the power indication on the other displays with OSF like xh18? Is it correct? Maybe it is not a strict display problem but how OSF translates the power.

As far I can see, even the OSF firmware provided by mbrusa (that I used as basis for TSDZ8) does not send the power to the XH18 display. It seems it is sent only for the 850C display (for the OSF VLCD5, VLCD6, XH18 version).
Mbrusa made also a version for TSDZ2 for 860C with modified firmware on 860C and this version provides the power.

which LCD to choose VLCD5 or B02N-TS
which is better for "adjustment" (throttle and torque sensor synchrony, walking ...)
I don't need navigation, power display and other bells and whistles

Another question; the price difference between TSDZ2B and TSDZ8 is $20
I have a series 8(TSDZ8) compared to TSDZ2B

If you drive with stock firmware you can choose what display you like. Maybe someone else knows better those "adjustments".
If you want drive with @mstrens OSF you have to choose at the moment VLCD5 display. Maybe more displays will come supported in the future. @prozyc has tested other displays too look post new tsdz8 pswpower
 
Hi, @mstrens, today I wanted to measure and compare the readings of the external ammeter and the measurement from the tsdz8 controller, I uploaded the latest hex 08, but unfortunately despite different versions of settings the engine reached a maximum of approx. 2.3-2.4A, if you could check if everything is fine in the "main" hex because I suspect there may be an error there, and 10x A too little is permissible (but maybe I did something wrong, because due to the small amount of time I could not check it exactly) in the next few days I will try to provide a comparison of A measurements. Just for info advanced menu from display seems to be working.

Hey guys, is there any way to make the throttle on my tsdz8 more sensitive? It seems like it's all or nothing and it should be variable speed. How would you attempt to change that? I would like to be able to push the throttle just a small amount and the bike go slower than full speed
 
Should display settings work on VLCD5? This manual says ”The lights button is always active to turn the lights on and off if pressed once. The additional functions can be recalled with a combination of the lights button, pressed twice consecutively (on/off) and the selected level.”

If I push lights button fast two times km:S go first to 99.9 and comes down to 55.7 and back to 00.0.

I presume you are refering to the OSF version for TSDZ8. The firmware is supposed to work as explained in the manual in the link you mentioned.
You can use the power button (=light) to
- display some data that you can select/define with the javaconfigurator. The different data are displayed in the field that VLCD5 uses normally for the speed. In fact the firmware running on VLCD5 does not display directly the value given by the motor controller but applies a kind of filtering. This explain why the value being displayed changes at the begining. Then the value stabilize and after a few seconds, the display shows another data (if foreseen in the configuration defined in javaconfigurator). The fields being displayed in sequence, the order and the time each data is showed are defined in the configurator.
- pressing twice on "light", is supposed to change some parameters. See the manual. It is quite complex to explain here. Please note that the first versions of OSF had a bug about this fucntionality. Normally this bug is solved in the latest version.

@prozyc, as said in a mail I sent you, I expect that your config (done with javaconfigurator) uses a quite low value for one of the 2 power fields. I presume it the reason why the Ampere taken by the motor is currently so low. See my mail to know how to check it.
