2nd ride ever, tire breaks, fml... what to do.

So when I took the tire and tube off my wheel and spun it on the stand it seemed pretty true but I noticed the rim had a bend in one side of the flange. I tried to straighten it with pliers, which is probably not the right way, and got some bend out of it. I can't say which happened first or caused what but I think it's cool that you kinda knew it was bent too and may continue to be a problem. That knowledge comes from real experience, thanks Dan. I'll go squeeze some spokes for a start. I think a new rim and relace is coming up soon too.
