AM dual motor = bafang middrive + rear hub motor

thanks for the advice, they were more of a quick/temporary solution from the hardware around the corner for someone who can't solder. YET (will have to take course in soldering this weekend if I can get over to Newbs to watch another guy do his wiring.)

I'll upgrade all the blues ones I have when I upgrade to 18s. (or if there's a fail before then)

good idea. learn how to solder. many ppl say that crimping is better than soldering, and it may be true
, but i still prefer soldering if done properly.
just take care that due to the small contact area these blue connectors can't handle a lot of current. so this small area will get very hot, and can even melt the insolation which may cause a short. depending on where the short happens this can lead to fire or a broken controller or motor.
so i would advise to do some riding and do the finger test. if the connector gets warm it's not good, but ok. just watch it's temperature. and if nothing bad happens after a long wot ride you're probably safe :)

She does get warm each ride and a long ride she gets super hot but just at the not too hot to keep holding.

The only reason I stop and touch test them is because the CAV3 has limited me down on some mountain saying the motor has reached near 105-115 degrees Celsius. So my real problem is venting the motor not the phase wires for now.

this is by kepler. he shows how you can open a motor without any tools. this is how i do it and its ok to just be a little rough and pop it on a wooed blok or step.

then drill it like buggery, semetrically though ;)

in the gaps of disc mount and around perimeter of other side.

mark the positioning of the side plates to the flange ring.

What type is on the front? I use crazy Bob 2.35 on front and hookworm on rear. Good combo ,even off road its OK.

double hook worm, its all about drifting and going with the weight with gradual turns. But even when I do that at super slow speeds when it is steep with deco not much to do but fall.

I've spent so many hours stupidly trying to put in orders pulling out my hair. Till I finally got an operator on the help line.

John Bozi05:48:22
Im trying to do a large order of various things
05:48:51
and when I put a thing in the cart and then press view cart its not there
05:49:03
this is with the wait a minute discount
05:49:24
Ive been through the system so many time now
Elise05:49:53
Maybe it's because of the weight. order has order limitation.
John Bozi05:49:55
it works for the first items and then the next item it will not work
05:50:08
6 lipo bricks
05:50:13
and a charger?
05:50:32
its not about weight because I can buy everything without the discounts
05:50:46
but when i use the discount option it will not appear
Elise05:50:46
Do you receive an error?
John Bozi05:50:51
no
05:51:16
it just wont appear in my cart
05:51:28
if i dont use the discount option it works
Elise05:52:00
Oh you mean the discount that will pop up in you screen?
John Bozi05:52:05
yea
Elise05:52:41
I understand now, please be inform that when you get that discount, the items in your cart will be gone.
John Bozi05:52:42
i add to cart via that - then i press view cart and its not there
05:53:01
how can they be gone?
05:53:43
how can i buy something that is gone?
Elise05:54:25
The discount will not allowed with another item. If you want that item, you can make a new order for that.
John Bozi05:54:47
so you can only have discount on one item?
05:55:22
then I will everything shipped seperately? and will have to pay extra on shipping?
Elise05:56:02
Yes. You got it.
John Bozi05:57:01
I would suggest to who has made your site that the discount option does not appear to people who have already taken a discount on an item - so your customers are not confused
05:57:15
thank you for your help

I've had my fair shar of think about will I won't I with Lipo, I have tried and tried to find solutions to avoid it but the headway batteries are just such a pain in &^%$ to fit anywhere that I feel Lipo is almost the only way forward to making my bike function properly. I am relatively happy with the box between my legs and I could build a more secure holding method to keep it there but at the end of the day the balance and the width when pedalling is an issue that I can not solve. the pack was on the back but too bouncy, I tried to find a solution to put it at the front but never felt the headset tough enough for the weight, and the only solution was between my legs which is not really a solution if you can't pedal properly.

I believe once the power source weight is lower I should find I can balance the bike better off road too. I am pretty sure I will go to 18s but still have the option of the 12s. doubt I will stick with the 12s. Must start looking at a new controller...

here is my order today, not cheap as many people say about going to lipo, and it is for sure not complete, I need a power supply and more plugs from else where and cell monitors as HK au was out of the ones I wanted.

6x #T5800.6S.25/14715 Turnigy 5800mAh 6S 25C Lipo Pack (AUS Warehouse) = $536.82
2x #R10A1780-06/41040 Turnigy Pure-Silicone Wire 10AWG (1mtr) RED ( AUS Warehouse ) = $5.78
2x #B10A1780-06/41948 Turnigy Pure-Silicone Wire 10AWG (1mtr) BLACK ï¼^ AUS Warehouse ï¼? = $5.78
3x #AM-1005/17480 Polymax 5.5mm Gold Connectors 10 pairs (20pc) (AUS Warehouse) = $16.53
2x #WHS10-BLACK/46170 Turnigy Heat Shrink Tube 10mm BLACK (1mtr) (AUS Warehouse) = $2.38
1x #iCharger106B/45593 iCharger 106B-plus 250W 6s Balance/Charger (AUS Warehouse) = $90.05
2x #JST-XH-CLIP6S/39219 Balance Plug Savers (JST-XH 6s) (5pc Per Bag) ( AUS Warehouse ) = $1.08
5x #015000048/42594 JST-XH Parallel Balance Lead 6S 250mm (6xJST-XH) (AUS warehouse) = $13.05
4x #015000053/44788 JST-XH Parallel Balance Lead 6S 250mm (2xJST-XH) ( AUS Warehouse) = $6.36
1x #HKB-Medic/30273 Hobby King Battery Medic System 6S (AUS Warehouse) = $14.55
1x #TR-Wattmeter/45605 Turnigy 130A Watt Meter and Power Analyzer (AUS Warehouse) = $24.85
1x #WH-6MM-BLACK/39281 Turnigy 6mm Heat Shrink Tube - BLACK (1mtr) ( AUS Warehouse ) = $1.11

Now I need to find all the things I couldn't get from them that I need. For example:

5.5MM Banana Plug / Charge Plug (solder type) international warehouse http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__18098__5_5MM_to_Banana_Plug_Charge_Lead_Adapter.html
HXT 5.5MM to Banana Plug Charge Lead Adapter

Collecting info about my buy: I am nervous about the amount of information to digest.

Bought this power source for it. Expensive for the 18v I was trying to utilize... pretty.. :)

Awesome ride yesterday with Newb, slid out a couple of times again. Almost landed in water a few times, did some huge air born jumps.

I want to build an off road specific bike. Don't know if a 12tmac could handle this ride, what do you reckon? Note I actually turned off the motor for a part of the downhill ride.

Will this battery be a problem?
that's a bit little information. is this a new battery? was it just delivered? if so: YES. remove this cell, or send it back. if i order a bunch of lipo i always add one spare, so i can change individual low cells - sending them back and asking for a replacement is so much of a hassle.
if it was after a ride i would charge it and if you have a icharger measure internal resistance to see if this cell's resistance varies a lot from the others.

Like Bob Marley says.
"Don't worry, about a thing"
Variance in cell voltage isn't worth worrying about until you charge, balance and discharge the battery. Also use multiple testers to verify the tester accuracy.
If after:
Charge
Balance
Discharge
Measure cell voltage
If its out by more than .05v that's not ideal and if its out by .1v in the 3.75 rAnge you might want to chase up a swap over/refund.
Edit
Just another note to add is internal resistance is a bigger concern, as it will make the beepers go off under high prolonged load.
So if all cells are similar capacity and similar resistance low voltage beepers will all go within a small amount of discharge %

Also on the 20" bmx tip, you can use a 16" motorbike tyre on the 20" bmx rims.
Mc measure rim where as bike measure total diameter inc tyre.
So a dual sport 2.75 -3.0 tyre would be an option.
The end result is about 21.5" I think.
A slow geared hub may be OK, longer rear shock could counter the small tyre, or run it high psi and fast (the gas shock)
Many many options.
Enjoy the lipo first.
Any what do you break? Rim and spokes... Upgrade them first and drill your side covers to keep it cool on hil climbs. If you drill, spray high temp paint on the stator.
It really works man much less heat and cools quicker.

Another huge ride. two stacks as usual. First one I was padded up, second one thought I wasn't going off road so just ordinary bicycle helmet and gloves.

I decided to go through a small park instead of concrete path at a scouts den which had big sort of entry gate just two wooden posts and one across the top, didn't have any actual gate. So headed out via that but as I approached spotted what I thought was thin line of wire across it, hit the brakes hard couldn't stop thought I was going to get decapitated, dropped the bike sliding on my side under a piece of fn rope!

No gopro for the last part of the ride :(

Newb wore the gopro for the first hour ride we did, but I must admit, his battery box on dual crown forks isn't the best set up for recording, makes me think twice again about an off road set up with the batteries mounted at the front. It really reduces your valuable view of what's in front of your wheels.

Much slower on the first 3/4 of all my rides when I'm with Newb because I want to draw out the ride, as he is carrying 15ah @ 18s. Especially slow on the single track just because it is quite rough stuff. I tend to ride more WOT extended periods on the way back home (unfortunately it's when the motor is already heated up...

Sorry Izeman, we are heading into summer, soon though it will be ridiculously hot.
Pendragon, as I mentioned ealier I go a bit more mental on the way back, unfortunately Newb was too far back to catch me when I pulled on throttle and brake at the same time and stacked it. I think I was doing to much experimenting with hopping over things. New found skill to pull up the front and then the rear as I used to do with my mtb bike. Just didn't try with ebike because of the weight.
Used up exactly 10ah so bike was getting a bit slower...

my main ride to the shops has these jumps in the middle. I plan to do this recording properly, limited for time just a test video.

I like the lack of the wobbling topeak rear rack. on the top tube no wobble..
