The current trend is to price low as to minimize tarriffs, then increase that cost with shipping at Alibaba. Shifting the money to play the system game. I approve as long as I look at the complete cost.
I regularly buy $120 ebike tires for $10, but with the total cost including shipping $65. I just have to wait 30 to 45 days for ocean freight. Ensure you clarify shipping 'DDP' so they handle all forwarding/tarriffs.

Trying to figure out how to add stability to back in corners. Stock rims on ebike, I have changed tires from Specialied Purgatory 2.6 to Kenda ElCapo 2.4. it is obvious IMO the Specialized are much better tires. The Elcapo going into corners fast is scary, even scarier than the Specialized. Do I need wider rims and street tires? thanks. Front seems fine.

If I go around corners real fast leaned over it's like the tire is trying to come off the rim, tears tubes. I am like 340 pounds and probably should not push like that. Maybe wider rims and road tires? The front is not a problem but the back is bad.

I don't have tires that small except what came on bike stock and they collapse as well, I think the only thing that will fix this is wider rims. Max air pressure and I will just blow the tubes out. 340 pounds is 340 pounds, didn't you read about BFCS ? For us Americans on the government TIT it's a real thing, just look at the black women in this country.

I'd suggest finding a donor bike that is made for a certain amount of abuse, and then convert that.

These came from a non profit bicycle shop via charitable contributions. The shop's business model is to fix and resell bicycles, and FS bikes are too complicated for their purposes, so they sold them to me. $50 for the yellow one, $125 for the grey, about 15 years-old, and lightly used.
I put an All-Axle in the yellow one, and it is quite the motor bike. Love the dual twist throttle with regen braking.

An XXL frame would definitely fit you better. I am not sure how good an ebike the Rockhopper would be because the diamond may be a little small for a battery. But maybe an XXL would have more room than the pictures I found are showing.

With a cheap caliper you can find out by measuring the outside and subtracting 6mm, this will give you a good estimate of the internal rim width

Better is measuring it without the tire on

It's probably 20mm internal, which is fine for gravel tires, insufficient for most MTB tires and it's a measure designed to save money and weight.

I shoot for the middle of this range; a wider rim has a little lower rolling friction but it's heavy, a too narrow rim is going to make the wheel floppy around turns, so the middle of the range is just right to balance both concerns

3 pages so far, (with no end in sight). If this is, by chance, a potentially serious safety issue, he needs to deliver this beast to his local bike shop... pronto. It'd be v-e-r-y wise to have a Pro do a hands-on inspection and hopefully ride it. Might spend 5 minutes and 20 bucks. BFD

Those are fine guidelines but I know they are not binding or true in any practical way. I have ridden uncountable miles on 14mm inside width rims mounted with nominally 63mm tires, and also on 60mm inside width rims mounted with nominally 56mm tires. The former was more sensitive to inflation pressure but both worked excellently.

The current trend towards wider tires and lower tire pressures suggests wider rims. It is worth noting that wide tires on narrow rims need more pressure to function but they also ride better at the same pressure compared to the same tire on a wide rim.

I think the problem is I need wider more heavy rim in the back, bike is fine until I lean in corner at speed, then it would not surprise if back end of frame is not strong enough. The Specialized big 2.6 tires are a big improvement. Are the Fat Tire bikes better for BFCS?

The pros all ride skinny tires on carbon rims. And they corner pretty fast without blowouts.

They don't weigh 300 plus pounds, tire is too big for rim under those conditions.

Nice thing about 20" fat tire rims is you can put a motorcycle tire on there if you really want to. Would be a pain to pedal something that heavy, and inefficient for the motor to move it, but they sure are durable.

Note the sizing is measured different, though. A typical fat bike has a 20"x4" bicycle tire. The same size rim would take a 16"x3" or so motorcycle tire.

Also you generally need a different frame for fat bike tires because the rear drop outs are wider.
