Too bad about that, but they are a particular nuisance to me personally. They are scattered about my area, inconsiderately and thoughtlessly left in the middle of sidewalks, bike lanes, bike paths, driveway aprons, crosswalk curb cuts, etc. (as scooter rentals). Almost every outing I have to weave my way around them, or even dismount the bike to get to a crosswalk signal beg button. Not strictly Bird's fault, but even their recharging crews place them in rows blocking marked cycle path right-of-ways. 
OTOH, I do realize that their widespread use can and probably does cut down the amount of mindless metropolitan automobile trips.
