I guess someone needs to start the thread so I might as well... Anyway, does anyone here have any info as to initial ship dates? All I see on the vendor sites is "pre-order". Back when I first ordered my Photon Gen 1 placed a pre-order and finally gave up when it just got pushed out and out and out. I eventually got one months later.

Just perusing some vendors...

Golden Motor order page sends mixed messages. It shows "in stock and ready to ship" but at the top of the page it says preorders will ship in 6 to 8 weeks.

Johnny NerdOut just says preorder with no indication when they will ship.

Electrify order page would lead you to believe that it is in stock and ready to ship but in the "description" drop down it says shipping in early August. Based on my experience with them last go around I wouldn't trust anything they say. IOW, I'd add at least a couple of months to that August estimate.

Another oddity is that on Electrify under "specifications" it lists the motor as 4000W max but then says the firmware version that will be available is for 250/750/1500W. Maybe they are referring to the default assist level powers, but who knows.

I assume this is basically the long rumored "proton". Overall sounds like a very interesting motor for the right applications. Peak power when you need it with low weight and presumably decent firmware and control. I think this would be close to the top of my list if I was recommending it to someone wanting to build a serious E-MTB. Quieter than the CYC stealth, better torque firmware than the Toseven and Tongsheng. Interesting.

Yup. I am a little surprised they didn't use the Proton name but then the new motor does share the controller, chainrings and maybe some other parts with the Photon Gen 2. In the Golden Motor video, he frequently refers to it as the
"Proton".

I assume this is basically the long rumored "proton".
