DIY ebike Chargers

Another thought - LLC Converters - isolated, and well suited to PFC usage.

I'm thinking of just using a buck PFC topology as well. Too many possiblities, could also use 4 series 36V meanwell clones for $120.

I've been following this tread with some serious interest. IN my quest for a greater than 30w/in3 chargers I came across these guys:

45x34x11mm 300 watts, requires external components but still!

Apparently just using a 555c timer and one IGBT. Looks like it needs the caps, a couple chokes, and your rectifier.

Alright for a laptop supply wondering if they're were planning on kw.

:?: :?
I was just thinking this would be off the shelf in the several hundred watts+ :( , got my hopes up, dashed again, serve me right for being lazy and following to many threads at once
If a 555 can drive an IGBT without much else but big caps and inductor, would be a good circuit to look at.

3.3kw in a handheld, though it does look more like a suitcase.
Write up might be useful.
